DiCaprio was J. Edgar and the actors were convincing. But Josh's aging make-up made him look sick and swollen and like his make-up mask did not fit even before he was really sick!! DiCaprio's makeup was much better. However the writing and the acting was very good and I would recommend it to anyone!! We had very stimulating converstaion after viewing it.
It was nice to go to a movie where the husband and wife are actually committed to each other. It was funny and engaging and the actors were attractive and did a good job. It is a "chick flick" and there is no violence or very bad language. What a pleasure to go and just enjoy a film. Can you tell we are over 50!!!
The female actress did a wonderful job. The extended family were very believable. A couple of editing glitches (she had smooth skin one day and in the next scene the bruises were back.) Overall it was a good drama, not great but am not sorry I saw it.
Had not heard anything about it-but we ended up glad we had seen it. Was not quite your predictable love story comedy. Quite sweet with some heartfelt moments and good laughs. Go see it!
Emily Blunt does a great job of portraying a young new queen in a dysfunctional family. I would have liked to see her rulings and results a little more. It was an interesting but sweet romance. It had a very dull seemingly unfinished ending. But all in all not a bad movie.
Even though I am over 50 I still love Clooney and he was Clooney quality in this movie. However most the funny lines were in the trailers , it was not very funny and had a rather "lonesome" theme. My friend and I thought it would be more "frivalous and fun" and it was more serious. However the acting was well done.
Morgan Freeman exudes such warmth and goodness of character as Mendella and Matt Damon plays the perfect rugby captain. It shows how a common goal can help bridge past troubles and bring people together. Its not about apartheid, its about beginning to heal afterwards. Its about bringing the best our of others and using a competitive sports activity. I am not a rugby fan or a sports fan but my friend and I loved this movie!!
Any Adams was perfect for Julie she is adorable. I left the movie thinking Meryl was Julia Child and then reminded myself Julia was no longer with us!! This was a beautiful story of the struggles of two women with loving husbands, struggling to find meaning and direction in their lives and doing it through their love of cooking. It was funny and heartwarming and well done. It is an uplifting movie. Anyone who wants to see something positive, without violence and inapppropriate behavior-will want see this. We need more movies like this!!!
This was so silly and full of 10 year old type antics-we were ready to leave after 5 minutes but stuck it out as we were meeting people after the show. Not good for 10 year old either with teen drinking and driving themes. Do not waste your money.
