Clooney was excellent as always and newcomer Anna Kendrick was outstanding. The film was well produced, well cast and well acted however, there was NOTHING enjoyable about the story. The subject matter is far too depressing in the midst of the current economic crisis. I go to the movies to feel good and entertained. I felt anxious and depressed when the movie ended.
On a scale of 1 - 10 of how enjoyable the movie experience was I would have to give it a zero. While the movie was well done from every perspective the subject matter was just too depressing to be considered entertainment.

My wife and I were so disappointed after the excellent critic reviews. Depressing, long, not funny and with not one character you could care one whit about. How do I get the 2 hours of watching this movie back? Some friends were at the theater and dropped their kids off to see Alvin, the squekwal while they went to "up in the air". Bad trade. It could not have been any worse than this movie. Wished I had seen alvin. This is the first time I have ever submitted a review, but I was motivated because of the lousy experience.

A depressing movie about a character deprived of all emotions, a married woman with family and children she values who will jump into bed with him an hour after meeting him in a hotel bar, and a steady parade of people being fired venting their despair. Not academy award material, but good, funny, poignant. Not much of a plot and you can see the end coming a mile away. It doesn't detract, however. Clooney is excellent, as he always is. but too many plot strands that aren't developed well.

Although too schmaltzy and predictable at the end, the first two thirds was immensely entertaining. As an international traveler wh obsesses over miles and business lounges, I really enjoyed the portrayal of the high mileage flyer. The actors were great, especially Natalie. Watch it in a few months while flying over the Atlantic or Pacific.

People think movies are great if it makes them feel something. All l felt after this movie was depressed. Anna Kendrick was fabulous all the way through and I can't wait to see more of her, but the rest of the movie was as depressing and shallow as some of the characters. Important and entertaining movie with great acting. The issues are marriage, job loss and loneliness. Someone has to terminate (fire) people when companies downsize....usually the HR department does it....ie., hire and fire...BUT many companies are afraid....so they get an outside company...this is new info, well handled, the screen play well done, and absorbing. it might have drifted into corniness...but it did not and the ending was NOT telegraphed.

This movie was very well-cast, fantastically-written, unique, interesting, and refreshing. George Clooney has some awesome dialogue, but the standout performance definitely goes to Anna Kendrick (who plays Natalie). The only reason it's difficult to truly love this movie is because it doesn't give the audience a clear-cut way to feel. And while this is clearly done on purpose, I was left sitting after the film somewhat dumbfounded and floundering for clear feelings about the story I'd just watched.

The meaning of the title changed by the end and pointed to so many double meanings as the main character's situation is compared to those who just lost their jobs. Who really was in a bad situation?? Excellent casting!
Really wanted to see swanky accommodations and special services afforded a frequent flier of such magnitude, but it all looked pretty standard to me.
The characters seemed to be very real people, and the story was very satisfying. I thought it ended on a hopeful note.

George Clooney's character starts out about as shallow and unconnected as one can be, and ends up the same way. So why should we care about this movie? Yes, the acting is good and the characters could be interesting, but the movie goes nowhere. Movie had wonmderful prerformances but it dragged along too much....The subject matter was heavy and dealt with very well..... Definetaly a reflection of our times!

I enjoyed this movie far more than I expected. Although the topic was depressing, I thought the film brough up some excellent points about commitment, technology and relationships in a world where intimacy and true feelings are often pushed aside for expediency.
The actors all were believable and well cast. All in all, I would recommend this movie.

I thought this film was well written, directed, and acted. The casting was spot on and I felt fully engaged in the story. There was a moment half-way through when a comic zinger sent the entire audience into brief applause. Though most of the humor was relatable only to those who travel, there were a few moments that truly transcended the audience. The last 1/4 of the film including the ending was a bit of a disappointment for me. Not because I wanted it to wrap up in a perfect bow, but because the script became a bit lazy toward the end. I wanted a revised backpack speech that never came. It's worth watching especially if you are either a Clooney fan or need a date movie that walks the romantic line without going overboard.
