Visually solid film. The story is clear, though the situation were metaphors for our current situation in regard to the lack or ever decreasing natural resources. Very much liked that action and dialogue were to the point, no unnecessary erotic action.

I dont know what other review are saying... It could be that i didnt expect much since I didnt watch the trailer and didnt hear anything of it but it was very interesting throughout the whole movie. It also depicts how we might end up foodless in the future. Great movie. Loved it!

If you go into this movie expecting a great plot, you'll leave dissapointed. The acting was good, and it was very entertaining, but not a movie I would buy on DVD. Eiher way, just go in ready for gore, which was why I went and I was pleased :D

Even though you'd think the vampire genre is tired and exhausted, the Spierig brothers manage to pull some interesting allegory from it by fast-forwarding 10 years after a vampire apocalypse has turned humans into an endangered species. Perhaps not surprisingly, a future predominantly filled with vampires looks a lot like our own possible future, and so this isn't really just a story about bloodsuckers, but our own human addictions as well. That said, the film functions mainly as a sci-fi actioner, with a car chase, gun fights and enough exploding vampires to keep you entertained. Fans of Underworld and I Am Legend take note. If you can get into the high concept, you will probably enjoy this film.

Some moments were scary but the special effects made me laugh. Vampire death=exploding a blood-filled water balloon, splat!! It was not supposed to be funny yet it amused me, didn't scare me. The plot was interesting and could have been an awesome movie if it were better developed. People were killed with no explanation, many loose ends and questions. At the end, I loudly whispered, "are you serious? That's it?" and many fellow disappointed movie goers in the rows behind me laughed and agreed. Don't waste a movie ticket, rent it if you have a few hours to kill.

Disappointing...nice change to the vampire theme, but the overall presentation of the movie was cheesey. Reminded me of the low budget horror flicks from the 70's and early 80's. Everything from the music to the action sequences was just off. On the positive side as mention the plot was interesting enough to keep you watching to the end, and I did like Ethan's work in this. Would not see it a second time however.

O.K. so its a vampire movie which I like but looks like they didn't have time to elaborate whole story. End doesn't make sense it's cut rapidly.(hope there wound be 2nd part) There is no fully developed world of vampires. Whole movie could be based in total different reality, lets say during world war 2 or among 2 gangs in Mexico, and it would change character of movie. They didn't use vampires potential. Compare it with Underworld and You'll see what I mean.

I agree with most viewer's.. The end didn't make sence at all. They should have had a closure on the whole moral of the movie, but instead they just leave you with hints and only faint thoughts about (what happens when the blood run's out with "humans") and the alternative's for it. Overall i thought the movie was pretty good; I did infact recommended it to a friend because were both alil vamp obssesive. && by the way.. not a movie for weak stomach; or people who don't like gore; because thier's alot. ^^

My husband and I agree that although entertaining this movie was a let down. Lots of nice visual effects, and nice that they stuck with traditional vampire ideas (can't see them in the mirror, have the vitals of a dead person). But the story falls apart at the end. There was also some really bad acting. We could have waited for this one to come out on DVD for sure.

this movie is very straight forward, and often hints at some really interesting concepts (although it never follows through with them). you won't find anything new here either. the initial concept of a blood substitute for vampires has been played out extensively on true blood and the novels it is based on. the visuals, while stunning, seem to mirror the underworld series almost exactly. none of the characters are engaging or even remotely interesting, and i found myself hating willem dafoe almost instantly.
overall, if you can ignore the dialogue and plot, there are some great visuals and effects to keep you awake for the predictable conclusion.

I am a fanatic for vampiria and this movie had the premise of a vampire movie that I have never heard of before-to find the cure for vampirism. Great blood and gore, but too much mushy father/daughter interlude combined with some very what seemed to be rushed scenes like they couldn't quite figure out where to go with the ending so it became a ridiculous free for all death match gore scene that really didnt make much sense at all and left us bored. Ended up being predictable, and if they are thinking of making a sequel to this---PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON'T!!!! Just leave it alone-don't waste your money or your time, because you obviously didn't have enough money to make a good enough ending for this one.

It had the potential, but it felt like they lost funds or ran out of time. It rushed near the end, and had a few characters introduced and immediately killed off... seem unnecessary to even have them at all.
The overall concept was Awesome, but it wasn't played out to it's fullest. Over wise, it would have been a Great Comic Book or Graphic Novel. A still good movie to see, but maybe on DVD/Blueray.

I thought this was a great movie! I was worried that it was going to be too scary and gory but it wasn't, it was pretty gory and had jump out at you scary stuff but the perfect ammount. The story wasn't just an afterthought which was a nice change too.

Daybreakers brought a new dimension to the appearance of vampires as the ultimate predator and offered a good look at corporate greed and the real cost thereof.
The downfall? There are plenty of loop holes, little side notes, and inconsistencies; as well as sone incredibly campy and often times ridiculous humorous points that seem to have been meant seriously.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This movie sucks (excuse the pun). Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe and Sam Neill do their best to salvage a horrible script filled with clichéd lines and scenes, flawed assumptions and poor film making technique. Graphics are potted with errors and glitches. Gratuitous blood sucking filled gaps and slow motion photography needlessly prolonged those scenes, making them predictable. It is ridiculous for anyone to believe that exposure to the sun will cure vampirism any other way than by killing the vampire, that the sun and burning somehow shocks the heart into beating again. If that wasn’t bad enough, sucking the blood of one of these cured vamps will, in turn, pass the cure on to the next. What is there to pass on? There is no virus or bacteria.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
