this movie is very straight forward, and often hints at some really interesting concepts (although it never follows through with them). you won't find anything new here either. the initial concept of a blood substitute for vampires has been played out extensively on true blood and the novels it is based on. the visuals, while stunning, seem to mirror the underworld series almost exactly. none of the characters are engaging or even remotely interesting, and i found myself hating willem dafoe almost instantly.
overall, if you can ignore the dialogue and plot, there are some great visuals and effects to keep you awake for the predictable conclusion.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
