I think most people have experienced a relationship simialr to that of Zooey and Joseph in this movie. While some people have complained about the numbers on the screen, i didn't find it distracting at all. Actually, going beack and forth between the days ties the story together much better, rather than starting at day one and going consecutively through to day 500. I truly enjoyed this, and recommend it. Not quite a chick flick- my fiancee enjoyed it as well.

Great Movie!! Don't miss this gem. Deschanel and Gordon-Levitt were perfect together. They had good chemistry and they are two of the best young actors in Hollywood.
Remember -- this is not a love story, it is a story about love. Even for a 51 year old couch potato, this was a lovely story ABOUT love, about youthful first love.
I loved this movie. Easily one of the five best I have seen this year. Marc Webb's direction was spot on. It was new and inventive. His techniques worked.

Quirky and offbeat. There wasn't anything earth-shattering or really ground breaking in it, but it was nice for a Saturday afternoon getaway. I enjoyed it and my husband did, too.

Although ‘(500) Days of Summer’ is the world’s longest set-up for a punch line (which was a good one), and the story is the well-worn boy-meets-girl, boy-loses-girl plot, it’s still fun to watch Zooey Deschanel in her typical quirky but lovable, enigmatically attractive girl role. Jumping around in time made the story hard to follow, but the point may have been to give the audience the same sense of confusion that the male lead had. Even so, there is enough relationship analysis, and oddball humor to lighten your mood to make the movie worth seeing.

So the reason I saw this was because my friend who I haven't seen in a long time, who was a girl, had us see it. I figured it would be whatever, but it actually wasn't bad. I like how they don't make it too much like a typical chick flick. There was even a scene where the guy was imagining it working out like a typical movie, but the reallity was different. Mostly I enjoyed the movie because it was funny. There aren't that many laugh moments, but they are pretty funny.
If you are a girl, you'll probably like it. If you're a guy, go with a girl and you'll like it.

What can I say? A love story should make me remember what it was like to fall in love. It should make me wipe away tears when the lovers' hearts are broken. I did neither. I was hoping that Gordon-Levitt would shine, but he was just as morose when he was happy as he was when he was sad.

I liked the visual effects that they used throughout the movie, they added so much to the mood of the characters. Not only do you see him feel alone in certain parts but the visualizations would really show you how alone. It was very true to how someone looks at a relationship and tries to get it back into one. After reading the reviews I was not quite sure what to expect. However, I was very pleasantly surprised and found this movie very entertaining. It was sweet and humorous. Definitely not a normal romantic comedy/love story but still a love story of sorts. Go and see it. It is fun and you'll like it!

Saw this as a treat for myself once the kids returned full time to school. I enjoyed it too but wasn't quite awed by it as some. It seemed to me to be a movie about what most Americans at some point in their lives go through. You could feel the emotions and sense the feelings just as if you were experiencing them yourself, or remembering them yourself. Most movies I would not watch again, but I actually would watch this one again if my husband or a friend wanted to see it.

Thought this film was very week and did not touch me as a love story should. It was shallow boring and I was always looking at my watch to see if it were over yet. Would not recommend it.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is amazing, speaking volumes with his eyes and face. When the movie started, I did not think I was going to enjoy it, but 20 minutes into it I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. The character of his little sister was a bit contrived.... didn't buy into that, but other than that I loved the movie...

Although I usually do not like a story that jumps around a lot, this movie would not have been nearly as good without playing scene out of order.
My wife and I had a range of emotions toward the characters as the movie developed the characters, which added a lot to the movie. The ending was a great twist to most romantic comedies.
