Although I really wasn't expecting to like it, this movie was fantastic. I started out hating Kirk and Spock and I think that was deliberate. As the story went on, I grew to like them and believe them as Kirk and Spock. I think all the actors did a great job and the story really does bring the franchise into the future and gives itself a great excuse for never having to follow or avoid being out of sync with the "known existing Trek doctrine".

After Star Trek Enterprise, I had little hopes that Star Trek would ever return for a new generation. After seeing this version with the new cast, I am much more hopeful. I must start by saying that I hated Star Trek before....I am far from a trekkie. But, this movie was great!!! This movie is perfect if you have no idea what Star Trek is all about (it's sort of like Batman Begins in that sence....its a renewed franchise)

I approached the premiere of Star Trek XI with a great deal of excitement and apprehension. The mere thought of seeing an untried cast filling the shoes of these legendary characters was almost too much to think of. Thankfully a great deal of thought went into the hiring of talented, likable and professional actors to bring to life the early days of Kirk, Spock and company. The movie was quick pace, full of the type of action sequences I think fans have been waiting decades for. My one concern is the impact of the alternate timeline created by Nero and Spock.

What a fantastic movie in the IMAX theater. It's well worth the extra cash to view it in IMAX. The sound system, wide screen view, and resolution were unbelievable. The whole family truly enjoyed the experience.

This movie surpassed my expectations!! I knew it would be good cuz of JJ Abrahms, but it started out with a bang, I was in tears within moments and then it had us laughing,from there it just didn't stop! There was everything in it, from romance, definately nonstop action(saw it in IMAX-a must!) humor at the exact time needed, and I have to say when L.Nimoy first appeared, the whole audience reacted with gasps of excitment and even tears of happiness! I thought this movie definately lived up to all the hype. Lots of action. The typical interaction of the charactors I grew up with but in a much younger version. The story was good but there was a mistake if you are a "trekkie". Spock's mother was around long after Spock grew up. This is a definate purchase when the DVD is released.

Although I watched the series briefly as a child in the 70's, I never became a real Star Trek fan. Let me cut to the chase and say I now am! The movie cues you into who the different characters are, and how they came to be. If they had done this movie earlier, the Star Trek franchise would be on par with Star Wars franchise, which I am a huge fan of. The CGI was incredible. The actors fit right, and Lenard Nemoy was great in his appearance. Go see it and go where no other has been...:) IMAX baby!

Being a Star Trek fan, this was an excellent movie. Having seen other movies in larger IMAX format, I was extremely disappointed with the experience. The screen was considerable small. The sound was outstanding, however at times it was very loud and I had to turn down my hearing aid. The plot of the story allowed me to further understand the dymanics of the how their friendship started. Interest about Uhura and Spock - I willn't spoil the teaser. I have been a Star Trek fan for years. I was thoroughly impressed with the casting, script, effects and performance by all. This movie is the perfect reboot to the Star Trek enterprise. My hope is that any sequels will be as good as this. The only flaw I saw in regards to the IMAX experience was with the fast panning of the camera during action sequences and extreme close ups. While these bits would like fine on the normal screen, they were too overwhelming and sometimes blurred in the IMAX format. If you are going to see it in IMAX, get there very early and sit towards the back of the cinema.

I have been watching Star Trek since I was a boy in the 70s. Not a trekki though. I loved this movie, grabbed me at the start and kept me right there all the way through. I actaully cared what happened to the characters. No unnecessary side story lines. I particularly like the Romulans who were more like Eastern European gangsters than the Tv version of Romulans. A brilliant prequel

While the screen I saw it on wasn't a true IMAX, but the retro-fitted IMAX that has a super crisp viewing experience I still loved it. It was funny, exciting, and while it has enough old references to keep the Trekkies happy. This is entirely accessible someone unfamiliar with the Trek world.

I've watched every episode of every series, every movie, and the animated series. So I'm a fan. This movie changes some things, it creates a new reality for new stories to be told, welcome to the Star-Trek Multiverse! This does not undo anything previously known in the Star-Trek Universe, it only paves the way to expand on the characters we already love from original Trek. The casting is perfect (except for Winona Ryder, thankfully it's brief), the special effects are amazing, the action doesn't let up, and I'm going to see this over and over again. Star-Trek is movie making at its funnest, is loyal enough to the original Trek, and JJ Abrams is to be commended for a job really well done.

My partner and I went to see this movie expecting a complete break in the Star Trek way. To our surprise it really pulled together the story and did a great job of introducing James T. Kirk and who he is, or was or is it will be???? Not real good at tenses in this matter. We would recommend this movie to anyone and everyone, but you must see it in the I Max! The only part that was disappointing was there is no place in Iowa that looks like it did in the movie;-)

I loved Star Trek. I did not love the IMAX at AMC Mercado in Santa Clara. I paid an extra $5 to see Star Trek on a huge screen. When I entered the theater I immediately noticed that the screen was not much bigger than the other screens at the AMC Mercado (which are not big to begin with). I thought I had been lied to about the size of IMAX. The picture looked good, but not an extra $5 good. The sound was great, but not really better than the THX sound in other theaters. I found some articles online that address this. They show the screen size differences and explain that AMC theaters don't have the IMAX screens people might expect. I can't post a link here, but feel free to Google and see for yourself. Save that extra $5!
