Up, not your usual Pixar tale

We took our nine year old son to see UP. He liked it. From a childs perspective it may be fine. From a parental level, there are a few moments we felt too mature for the young audience in regards to violence and death.
It is a poignant tale of the life long love a man has for his wife that has some heart warming moments. The Pixar animation is simply stunning as always. As far as Pixar films go, it's not one I'll ever feel the need to see again. That's a shame, because many of the others we enjoy watching over and over. I fine job was done by all; but the story should have been re-worked a little to create more of the family audience appeal that has become the bar that Pixar has previously set that all must try to reach.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I have been a Star Trek fan for years. I was thoroughly impressed with the casting, script, effects and performance by all. This movie is the perfect reboot to the Star Trek enterprise. My hope is that any sequels will be as good as this.
The only flaw I saw in regards to the IMAX experience was with the fast panning of the camera during action sequences and extreme close ups. While these bits would like fine on the normal screen, they were too overwhelming and sometimes blurred in the IMAX format. If you are going to see it in IMAX, get there very early and sit towards the back of the cinema.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
