I loved Star Trek. I did not love the IMAX at AMC Mercado in Santa Clara. I paid an extra $5 to see Star Trek on a huge screen. When I entered the theater I immediately noticed that the screen was not much bigger than the other screens at the AMC Mercado (which are not big to begin with). I thought I had been lied to about the size of IMAX. The picture looked good, but not an extra $5 good. The sound was great, but not really better than the THX sound in other theaters.
I found some articles online that address this. They show the screen size differences and explain that AMC theaters don't have the IMAX screens people might expect. I can't post a link here, but feel free to Google and see for yourself. Save that extra $5!

No, I do not recommend this movie.
