Absolutely amazing. The young actors resembled their older counterparts, to some extent. They even captured the characteristics of the original characters.
The story line proved to be just as, if not more, exciting than many of the others.
A must see for all Star Trek fans, and even for those who have never seen a Trek movie before!

I had seen star trek growing up thanks to my dad who was a fan. Going into this was not really sure what to expect. I def think this is action packed all the way thru, w/ realistic special effects. All characters were likeable and fun to watch and pretty accurate to the original ones. Only fault I would say is that it is a little unrealistic at times when Kirk goes from cadet to captain in a few mins I think that is a bit of a jump also the chance that they find the bad guys on their first day. U have to push the I believe button a bit. I saw @ IMAX and was pretty impressive w/ all the action scenes and wide views. Young and old fans will enjoy this new take on an old series and I look forward to seeing where they will take this new crew!

Star Trek has to be the best "Pre-quel" ever. The story is marvelous, casting is perfect, acting is spot on, technical is so good I felt like I was in the "Enterprise" while watching. It was so realistic I could not believe I was sitting in the IMAX & only watching. Most importantly, the script & cast formed a "bond" that came across as "magical" and so very real. This was like watching these events in real-time, not on a movie screen. Definately a "must-see" on the big screen! I can't wait to go again.

I was raised watching star Trek with my father, i've seen in the recent years the show and movies have been lost on the new generation. I have a 15 year old in my house who could care less, because Star Trek is not fun to her. This movie would impress her. This movie will awaken the genre to the whole new generation!

The movie overall had a good story. It was great to see the old Spock and learn about how some of the Characters got their start (from this movie's point of view).
I was kind of turned off by Cpt. Kirk's Character and I think they made him seem like a wild west cowboy, and the transition from him to what he is to becoming captain is not believable. Other than that, a good movie.

Abrams did an AMAZING job with this film. Everyone involved in the production of this film did an amazing job. This almost no-name cast did a better job than most experienced actors.
I usually get worried when a movie is so hyped because my expectations get too high, but I was definitely NOT disappointed.
It was one of those movies that you never want to end!
I didn't see too much of the original Star Trek series, but I still understood all the jokes and knew the characters.
I can't think of anyone who wouldn't enjoy this film. Only people who might not enjoy it are people who hate everything to do with Star Trek.

I have been a long-time fan of the Star Trek series and series of movies, although I wouldn't quite call myself a 'Trekker'. Despite the fact that this was an entirely different cast and crew, it just felt right...these guys felt like younger selves of the characters we've all come to know and love.
The story is fast-paced and has you on the edge of your seat for most of the movie. I will definitely go to see it again.
Of all the Trek movies, I would rank this as my second favorite of all time, just behind The Wrath of Khan.

I would have to say that i really liked this movie. i have been a trek fan for years and didnt know what i was going to think about this film. I think that they did a good job of keeping with the feel of the old series but also making it more modern for new viewers. The casting was great for most of the characters. Chekov in my opinion was the weakest of the bunch and he wasnt a major player anyway. The way Kirk and Spock interacted with each other was something new and i hope in the future they play off of them clashing again instead of being buddy buddy like the old films. I mean what friendship doesnt have some difficulties along the way. Overall a great movie and cant wait for the next one to be made.

I am not someone who watches Star Trek at all. I know absolutely nothing about it except William Shatner was in the shows. I have to say this is the best movie that I have seen in a very long time. My only complaint is that is wasn't longer. You don't have to know about the show to watch this movie. Phenominal special effects, great acting. I can't wait to see the next one. I only paid 25 for tix but I would pay the full 31 if I had to. Has to be seen in IMAX though. Can't imagine it any other way.

This is the best movie I have seen in a long time. Action, Plot, Romance, Chases and lots of Special Effects. The characters were true and you knew immediately who there were. As an old Trekker, I was excited to see this movie. Boy, dd it surpass all my expectations. Although I had an idea as to the plot, it was so well developed that I never would have guessed how/where it was going. The special effects are just right - they add to the story, but don't overshadow it. The character development answered a lot of those old quesitons: who/why/how...Of course, the first view of the Enterprise is breathtaking...whether you are a Trekker or not, and if you can only go to one movie this year, this is the one to see. And shell out the extra bucks for IMAX - you won't be disappointed!

I've been a Trek fan most of my life. I like this movie and hope to see more. The action and background of the characters was enlightening and entertaining but, I fear the writers pulling away from the original series may leave most of us original Trekies out of the fold. They could have easily brought the story line back to the pre-original Kirk and Spock years before we first saw them and explained more of their history. When did technology jump to post Voyager years? Even though they are rewriting Star Trek history I'm glad they kept the original characters and I'm looking forward to more Treking through space. They still owe us 3 more seasons of Star Trek Enterprise. I feel cheated.

Really loved the movie!!! The actors picked up the manerisms of Kirk, Bones, Spoc, etc that went beyond just "the words". I loved the personality twists and special effects.
With regards to IMAX, the AMC IMAX theater should not be calle IMAX. There is no comparisson between a real IMAX theater {Screen Size, Sound System} and the AMC Movie Theater IMAX. It was not worth the additional cost of the ticket for the same screen size and slightly improved sound. I felt I was "taken" spending almost $50 for 3 IMAX tickets for basically the same movie I had seen last week at the same theater for under $25 (with discount tickets) in the regular theater.

I am not of the old school Trek crowd, but I have a pretty strong appreciation for the original series and I love the whole franchise. This film is really something new, and something different altogether, and if you miss out on it you're missing out on the film of the year. I loved it, and it brought back the vitality and power of the original Star Trek without hamming it up. The cast is perfect. I don't understand the criticisms that have been leveled against it as "lower intellectual quality", since it doesn't pretend to be something it's not. It's an amazing action movie , and I love it for that.

This has been one of the most enjoyable films I've seen in a while. It's the first film I've seen in years that I had to see twice in the theatres (both times IMAX).

No connection to the moral plays of the 60's. What was the moral of this action and explosion-fest? Someone please tell me. To me it was a disgrace. Also, there were some awful plot devices used in the film that never should have occurred. The actors were a mixed bag, some very good, some very bad. The special effects scenes moved too quickly and incoherently at times. The sets and photography (CGI), however, were fantastic. The comedic moments were all very well done, especially the origin of McCoy's nickname. If only the movie had the heart to go with it.

I have seen all the different Star Treks, movies and series. I am definately a Trekkie. But, everytime there is a new movie or series, I am skeptical. But, everytime I am pleasantly surprised. This time is no different. I loved this movie. The casting was right on, it was action packed, I saw it in IMAX and it was like being IN the movie. I loved the new twists added to the Star Trek history, and the fact the writers left it open for another movie. Good going!!!

I was a bit skeptical about this movie. I am a trekker and a purist and, for the most part, any deviation from the norm is unacceptable to me. However, I must admit that I am pleasantly surprised about Star Trek. J.J. Abrams has struck gold and I am quite pleased with the outcome. The movie is awesome and watching it in the IMAX theatre was an experience in itself. I recommend this movie to everyone, whether they are fans of everything Star Trek or whether they have never enjoyed any of the various incarnations of this sci fi icon. It is a tremendous boost to the Star Trek mythology, and hopefully, it will infuse new blood into the series, so that it is around for a very long time. GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!

I thought this was an excellent movie. I was one of the original fans who wrote to get the show saved in the 60's so I have seen them all...and I love this latest retelling. If you go expecting to see everyone and everything exactly as in the original, you will be disappointed. But if you go expecting the old spirit dressed up in new finery, then I think you will be pleased. I was particularly impressed with Zachary Quinto as Spock (and NO, I did not think of Syler even once!) but especially loved Simon Pegg's portrayal of Scotty. I think Jimmy Doohan would have been pleased ...all the heart and playfulness with a younger man's energy.

First and foremost, viewing this in IMAX was great. My first IMAX movie, so I thought I would start off right.
On to the movie... Like most fans of the Trek series and movies past, I was a bit skeptical of the new cast and storyline. That skepticism is gone. Abrams has managed to re-write the beginning of the Trek story, making anything else they choose to do with the story believable. On top of that, the new cast has managed to pay sufficient homage to the original characters, while still making them their own. Also love the re-design of the ship and the special effects were top notch. This film reaches out to Trekkers and sci fi fans alike. I highly recommend it.
