Meryl Streep is just the greatest actress of our generation. There is nothing that she can't do. As Julia Child, there's no question that she was absolutely the right one to portray her. Amy Adams was lovely as Julie, but unfortunately was a tad bit overshadowed by Ms. Streep's brilliant performance. Loved the storyline about Julia then and Julie now, and how the 2 women's lives were somewhat parallel. I'd encourage everyone to see this movie. It's a winner!

The move appealed to both my male partner and myself. We enjoyed seeing real life stories of both women and the locations where they lived. We would recommend this movie to adults and children old enough to enjoy a movie with a good story line and acting. We left the movie feeling uplifted and entertained.

What a pleasant change! This movie was fun to watch, interesting to know more about Julia Child, her life and how she came to be the French Chef that I used to watch on TV. The actors/actresses were all great, and they couldn't have found anyone better than Meryl Streep to play the part of Julia. As a bonafide foodie, I had my doubts about this movie. Boy was I wrong! After seeing it TWICE now, I can honestly say that I LOVE it! Meryl Streep proves, once again, that she has the talent to play any role. She is truly the greatest actress of our time. Amy Adams was a joy to watch and I look forward to seeing her in many more movies in the years to come. This was what I call a "smile movie" - one that causes me to leave the theater smiling because I have just spent two hours and three minutes enjoying myself without violence, explosions, blood and gore - which I also enjoy by the way. I heartily recommend this to anyone who wants to see a well written, well acted movie.

First Ms. Streep completely nailed Julia's style of speech I never once thought it was forced. I confess that I enjoyed this movie completely.
I having lived in MA knew of the Childs from news stories and pictures and I must say her husband's performance was great and the mind could not find a flaw in his appearance It was if they had them film this movie together in 1950 for release today.

No computerized explosions, fight scenes or auto chases were necessary to make Julie & Julia a truly enjoyable movie. All that was needed was a goos script, excellent editing and wonderful acting from Meryl Streep, Amy Adams, Stanley Tucci and Chris Messina.

This is not a Genre of movie that I normally choose. But, I was going with a friend who really wanted to see this movie. I have to tell you that I completely enjoyed this movie! This movie had a little of everything. It had many heartfelt scenes as well as some rather light-hearted comedic ones (when she sat for her second culinary test with the woman that hated her as well as the "onion" scene). I enjoyed the movie greatly. I thought the movie was going to a little boring but I was wrong. The parallel of the two lives was done nicely. I was moved to tears. Meryl Streep can take every descent movie script and turn it, with her huge talent, into an exciting movie. Here, again, she majestically plays the role of Julia and makes you feel you want to be in Paris at 1949 or at least watch closely how she cooks. The flow of the movie between the two periods of Julia's life vs. Julie's life is well balanced. And when the movie discusses classic French dishes, it is a no brainer for me.

I would highly recommend that everyone see the movie “Julie & Julia”! All the reviews seem to parrot the joys of the cooking and the delightful acting but I feel there is a real diamond in the sub context of this movie. I see a truly beautiful portrayal of what a great marriage can be. I am not sure the author or the producer meant it or if it’s the byproduct of the two marriages portrayed by great actors but to watch as each marriage ripens and the respective partners bring out the best in each other was absolutely delightful. The mutual encouragement and cheerleading is how a marriage is suppose to work and was portrayed through thick and thin. Kudos!!!!

I just saw this movie and had to write a review. I throughouly enjoyed this movie... Amy Adams and Meryl Streep were excellent. Sanley Tucci was just as amazing in this movie as he was in The Devil Wears Prada... he and meryl are great together. What a cute, funny and entertaining movie... such a treat today. A must see. Definitely worth seeing in the movies... you will not be sorry.

Julia Child was a regular guest in our home during my teenage years. We appreciated her love of cooking and her humorous light-hearted approach in the kitchen. All of this comes back to life throught the brillance of Meryl Streep. There weren't many belly laughts in this movie, but there was a smile on my face from begining to end. Its warm and very special...especially for those of us who can remember Julia in her prime,

Meryl Streep is, as usual, a phenomenal actress with great nuance. She obviously enjoys what she does. Amy Adams, of whom I know nothing, is wonderful. The two parallel stories are sweet, sentimental, and carry a great message of setting your own course in life and of love. Tucci & Messina are great in their supporting roles. I immediately went home to dig out my own copy of Mastering the Art of French Cooking to make the beef burgundy! The movie also made the obvious point that fine food and friends make for life-long multisensory memories. Period.

The entire cast was perfect. Meryl Streep IS Julia Child. Both women were perfect for their respective eras. And both men were excellent in their husband roles It was date night for us and the movie was very entertaining and a refreshing change of pace.
