This is what scary movies are all about... mind tricks and not the blood & gore thing. Effective use of lighting and Blair Witch effects (hand-held cameras, etc). The best in quite a while.

Ever since the '78 disaster Superman: The Movie (which made me boycott every one after that), I have been waiting for something true to the spirit of this superhero... and finally got it!
This is what it's all about - the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it went on about a DAY TOO LONG! Man, why not fill out a few things from his childhood and make this a Part I and Part II - would have been much more watchable.
But all in all - great fun.

The absolute BEST of all the Start Trek movies... and unlike IronMan III it surpasses the first one of the prequels.

One of the better 'true' SyFy movies of late - not all shoot 'em up but a thinking movie of the Outer Limits or "Hal" variety (except it's a girl). Maybe that just showed my age...

one you will forget (pun intended). Acting was excellent and the plot twisted but one could follow it for the most part. Still, like many of these journeymen movies, it didn't leave you feeling you would bother seeing it again on DVD or TV.

A movie only Arts House theaters would show. If you go, please make sure you explain it to me cause I didn't get it - the rather impressionistic scene direction was chaotic - and Thomas? what's the deal with that!

Too scary for the young ones and too slow and boring for the oldsters? grade-school perfect but by then this family movie may not be seen by the family together (i.e., have you ever had teenagers?! :).
On the good side, wonderful effects and Franco isn't nearly as bad as the reviews claim - actually plays the part perfectly.

First rate movie with historical wonders for those who like American Politics. As is normal with Hollywood, they threw in a scandalous rumor at the end about Thaddeus Stevens to juice things up, but such is Hollywood. What balanced that out was a very nice depiction of the republican party in its infancy fighting the more established Pro-Slavery democratic party. I would have expected Hollywood to moderate that and somehow make the liberals the heroes. But that didn't happen - 5 stars for the good guys!

Let it wash over you...don't think - even for one second - that you will figure this movie out. Or you are a goner. Just suspend your thinking and let the emotions ride... .kind of like what America did on election day!
