Acting good, very intense from the very beginning, "jumps the shark" with some of the kids' actions toward the end, not a great ending, I wouldn't rush to see it but it was not a total waste of time.

Going into this movie, I expected it to be a physical battle between the brothers, but there wasnt one. All Tobey McGuire's character had was his suspicion, simply because Natalie Portman and Jake Hyllenhaal's characters did nothing to make him think they have had an affair. The ending was very anticlimactic, and the build up in the commercials did not fit the movie.

The story and acting were good in the movie 'Brothers'. The girls playing the daughters were good actresses, but the lines they were given made them a little too precocious to be very believable. Other than that small distraction though, what happened to and between the people involved was moving and thought-provoking. Not an exceptional movie, but worth seeing.

Didn't expect too much going into this movie, but I really did enjoy it. I personally liked it alot but looking at from a critics standpoint, it was just above average. This movie was nothing like the synopsis and very disappointing as a result. This is another nihilistic Hollywood exploration of the dark side of man, there are no heroes, everyone is corrupt. What a sad view of life. How pathetic so many people feel this is an accurate portrayal of returning veterans and the "cost of war". Hollywood knows nothing of the current war and has no business making movies about it. Tobey Maguire is a good actor, but he should be ashamed of portraying a Marine as some sort of psycho imbued with terrorist tendancies. If you see this movie don't forget your anti-depressants, you'll need them.

I thought this movie was bad. The story line of course is important, to understand what really happens to our soldiers, in that sense it was powerful. But the acting except for Tobey Maguire was weak. The rest of the story was just lame. It was boring and hard to even stay and finish watching. The whole relationship thing with Portman & Gyllenhaal was unrealistic, it just didn't work, not believable and overdone. Sorry, I think many reviewers missed the mark, don't waster your money.

This movie had a tremendous impact upon me. Not since The Deer Hunter have I had such a strong anti-war sentiment. Director Jim Sheridan seems to have gotten almost flawless performances from his most talented cast. Kudos to the screenwriters for not creating a predictable "Hollywood " story. In my opinion this movie is a must in these most precarious times.

The movie trailer and ads are very misleading. This was not a love triangle at all. This was a war drama about what some of our troops go through when they get back home and are going through mental trauma. I thought the acting was terrible - or maybe it wasn't that bad because Toby McGuire just creeped me out. I don't feel what happened in Afghanistan is true. I don't think any of our service men/women would make that choice at all. I do however want to thank all our service men/women for their courage and dedication. None of us truly realize what they go through for us each day.

None of the characters portrayed emotion well. There were several times that I wondered the reason the characters did not just respond plainly about what was asked. I did not think Maguire could show emotion well in Spiderman and there was only a couple times in this movie the emotion felt even slightly real. The story itself would be more appealing with better emotional acting and regular dialogue.

I give this movie 5 stars because of its incredible cast--the acting on EVERYBODY'S part is so great it's off the charts. There are a few elements we've seen here before, though, if you recall the movies COMING HOME and SOPHIE'S CHOICE. Some might balk at this; I just took notice of it & let it go...because it's that good a film. Hard-hitting, uncompromising, & Oscar-worthy performances by Tobey, Jake & Natalie. This and THE BLINDSIDE are movies that will stay with you long after you've left the theater.

This was a great movie. It showed us what REALLY goes on to our men and women in this war. It's Heart Wrenching...But it was eye opening. I would recommend this to everyone.

This movie is very good in explaining to the General Public what soldiers must endure during war time.
I will not recommend it as it is very dark and in a world of tough and hardship times, this is not what I would like to promote and dwell on.
