I thought this movie was great. I would highly recommend this movie. It is very heart-breaking at times and the special effects are amazing. My only complaint is that it was a bit too long. But it does keep you on the edge of your seat! And it gives you that feeling of "I hope this would never ever happen!"

The movie was a CGI masterpiece and the plot was everything you could hope to happen; if ever the scenario. Just wish great films like this would fix inaccuracies before final productions. Vegas fate would be same as Cali not D.C. Either they work or don't work; no matter what emotional moment needs to take place. Falling ground would cause suction and ocean water would be cold. But besides small flaws I loved it!

This movie was quite a thrill ride, much like a roller coaster. Had its low, slow parts, some of which were rather mundane and could have used better dialog writing. But then it sped back up again and took you on the ride of your life and had amazing visual effects. I only knocked it down one star because of the poor dialog writing, but other than that its pure visual and NO, do not try to nit pick at the plot or all the scientific aspects of this movie. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.

I actually enjoyed the movie. The graphics were incredible and I didn't even realize until after the movie was over, that it was almost 3 hours long. Its like "Independence Day" and "Day After Tommorow", but better. Its got the corny humor but not as bad as Independence Day. And the story and action is way better than "Day After Tommorow." If you dont know much about the theories behind 2012 I suggest you read up a little before you see the movie because there isnt much explanation as to why these events are happening in the movie. It basically just says that the solar waves from the sun cause the middle core of the earth to melt and seperate itself from the Earth's crust which causes the earth to spin on its axis and create worldwide disaster. But there isnt much explanation as to the rest of the theories behind this and why some scientists believe this could actually happen.

I truly enjoyed watching this movie. The special effects were great, but there were some parts that were just too unbelievable and had my "okay that is pure BS" meter going off. Also, they could have cut out some of the back story to make the movie come in at just below or just above two hours. It's fully about a three hour experience once you factor in the previews.

Special effects were good, but not the best CGI you've seen. They are the only reason to see this movie because the plot is so thin and over the top that nothing can be taken seriously. You don't outrun an earthquake in a car, and that's the most plausible thing that happens in a 10 min sequence early in the film. If they'd dialed it back a bit, 2012 could have had the dramatic impact of other disaster films that worked. They took the most ridiculous elements of films like armageddon, day after tomorrow, volcano, deep impact et al and dialed them up 10fold. All dramatic impact is lost and it just becomes laughable. It's also about 40 minutes too long and lags in parts.

The only thing that we found, was the the director chose only selfish, corrupt and very rich people ( that could pay their way out ), to be saved on the ships!!!, but it's understandable, the cost of the ships was very high but he could have made it less inhumane. Low at the beginning!!

The first time they show an airplane taking off while the runway is collapsing is kind of cool. The second time it's "been there, done that" and the third time you see it you're bored.
For a reason unbeknownst to me, they decided that the movie wasn't long enough (trust me, at almost 2 hours and 40 minutes, it was plenty long), and had to rehash all the destruction. I think I was tired of seeing everything blow up about 5-10 minutes after it started.
The storyline and characters are pretty bad, too.

Big thumbs down. What a big waste of time and money. I was really hoping to see something so different from what I saw. The title on this movie should have been "Noah's Ark in Modern Days". All the big drama was unrealistic survival, come on, not even a scratch on the getaway car... Many impressive Armageddon effects, and John Cusack is his loveable self, but the movie misses more than it hits. It's the spiritual successor to Independence Day, but it's by no means an improvement, and it's a lot less fun. When the script postulated that neutrinos from the sun have somehow spontaneously "mutated" into a new kind of elementary particle, I realized that I was going to be left to the tender mercies of Hollywood for the next two and a half hours. Plus, I can just hear all the climate change deniers out there saying, "See? We told you it was the sun's fault," and something about the weather on Mars. Sit this one out unless you truly have nothing better to do with your time and money.

2012 was an excellent movie. It was worth the money I spent. The movie had great special effects. There were different stories going at the same time in this movie and I did not feel lost at anytime of the movie. 2012 kept my attention and I waited to use the restroom until after the show. I did not want to miss anything. If people went into this movie thinking they were going to see what is suppose to happen in 2012 they will be disappointed. Movie goers should go to this movie with the mind set of this is JUST A MOVIE and the writer incorporated the possible 2012 disasters that everyone is speaking about now. Overall 2012 was a good movie and lately it is hard to find a movie that is worth your time and money.

John Cuisack and Woody Harrelson stole the show and gave outstanding performances. Loved the special effects and music and a happy ending. Some of the scenes were a bit long when they were doing two shots and a bit corny..........overall though, an excellent film.

But the entire story could have been played out without any of them, and it still would have been a great movie.
The story line is strong enough on it's own.
The acting played up the hammy bits in parts, like where the end is coming, seconds away, and the guy has to stop to explain his decisions to a kid. . .
Overall this is defiantly worth it.
It's been a very long time since a movie not only made me jump around in my seat, but it had me doing it THROUGH THE WHOLE MOVIE!
Like Raiders of the Lost Ark, this is an eye-poppin, OMG movie.
