I understand the movie is never as good as the book, but I was not impressed with this movie at all. Some of the facial expressions were very cheesy, and it was obviously a low budget film. I felt like crucial elements of this epic "love story" were completely left out. It seems the entire movie revolved around the fight scene, which the male audience should just love because that was the best part of the movie. Too bad for the thousands of teenaged girls & their mothers, who bought tickets too see the forbidden love between Edward and Bella come alive on the big screen.
I think they should take the money they make from this movie and try again!

I was so ready for this movie - and I hope that there will be other movies to follow the series of books. I loved that the movie did follow the book - it was a great moive and I loved the actors/actress' and the parts they played.
I would highly recommend that you read the book(s) before seeing the movie.

I read all 4 books and loved them. I saw the movie twice and loved it. I would've loved to see certain scenes from the book come to life but I know they had to squeeze 500 pages into 2 hrs...

I am a 31-year-old "Twilight Mom"! I love the books and will see the movie again! As with most movies based on a book, the book is always better! This is no exception, however, Hardwicke did a great job! My husband who did NOT read the books also liked the movie.

i saw twilight and it stayed mostly true to the book which was great, the chemistry between edward and bella was perfect and they made the movie, it exceeded my expectations and not many movies do, i have read all four books, you dont really need the read the book to get the movie, but it does help, i cant wait for them to make the rest of the movies, it was great!!!!

If you're a fan of the series, you really MUST go see the movie. If you haven't read the books, don't bother.
While it is a fairly faithful adaptation of the book, it is clearly (and distractlingly) geared towards young, teenage girls. Edward is appropriately swoon-ey but his vampire makeup is tragically distracting (as is the makeup on ALL the vampires - bleh!). The actress cast to play Bella is great...as is the actor cast to play her dad, Charlie.
Fans of the books will fancy the love story, but I found it completely lacking the intensity created by the author in the books. The action and special effects scenes were cheesy and low budget.
All that said, I will no doubt go see the sequel(s) when they are released. Yes, I'm a sucker!

I went into the movie knowing it wouldn't have everything the books have, as there just isn't enough time in a 2 hour movie. But i was shocked at what they choose to leave out. Regardless...I am going AGAIN tonight to see it. This time with my fiance', best friend and her husband. Last night me and my best friend saw it alone. Its worth a double look. I want to see it with out being shocked from the differences. It was a GREAT movie, but don't go in expecting it to be EXACTLY like the books, even when it comes to the sequence of events.

So, I read the books many times and I was highly antcipating the release of this movie. and I have to admit I was a little dissapointed. I attended the midnight showing with other "twilighters" and some people who never read the books. the ones who were in the dark, so to speak, enjoyed the movie more than the rest of us. I don't feel as though the touched upon the characters (the cullen clan imparticular) enough to show the true beauty of how wonderful they are! I would see it again and hope others go to see it, but that was definately a problem I had with this adaptation of the first book.

It was a really good movie. But it was missing a few main parts. Like when he was sitting with Bella alone because his family didn't want to sit with a human. It was still the best movie I have ever seen. You have to read the books to fully comprehend the movie. I think they will make a lot of money if they keep selling the accesoreis and make all 4 books. i would deffinately go and see it again. Once the movie comes out on DVD I am so gonna bye it. You should too, if you really like the movie. It does have one or two gross pars but that shouldn't bither many people. No one under 12 should go because it is a little bit inappropriate. It still was the best movie ever

If you are a fan of the book, inevitably you will appreciate having seen the movie. Be forwarned, however, that the dynamic and tension that you feel when reading the book is not portrayed very well in a two-hour screen session. The development of the characters is lacking and most of the characters that are worth watching are not the main characters at all. You find yourself laughing at times when it was meant to be serious and giggling at the complete akwardness of the interaction between characters. Overall, worth seeing if you are a twi-hard fan and want it under your belt but not really so great for the poor spouse you decided to drag along.

I see all these people saying to read the book before you watch the movie but I think maybe you should watch the movie then read the book. The book will put so much more to the story for you. If you read the book then watch the movie you will be dissappointed with some of the things left out. I did enjoy the movie but wished there was more to it. I know that budget had a lot to do with it though. I think almost anyone could enjoy the movie.

But I wouldnt read the book before going to see only becasue I took a girl who hadnt read the book and she fell in love with the movie so shes going to go buy the book now.. But reading the book i knew what was going to happen before it happend so it took the surprise out of it lol. Like everyone else is saying, read the book before watching. The movie is a little fluffy, not as serious as the book, but it's watchable. Some characters were underdeveloped and the special effects a little goofy, but it was a small budget film. I didn't love it like I was hoping, but I'm not hating it either!

I saw Twilight yesterday afternoon. I am 44 yr old mom to a 13 yr old. I read all of the books. I agree, if you haven't read the books, parts of this movie may not make sense. I thought it moved a bit slowly at first, but really picked up about halfway through. There was so much detail of the book that they had to leave out of the movie - I would've loved to see them develop Bella & Jacob's relationship more, and to see more of Alice. Also, at times, the Cullens' makeup seemed to be a bit much. Overall, as a lover of the books, I thought it was good!

the movie was really good. most of the actors did a great job. kristen stewart had one look on her face for the whole movie. she wasn't really expressing the emotion with her face. if it wasn't for the word she spoke i would not have know that bella was really in love with edward. robert pattinson did a wonderful good. i was a little upset that they left out some key points but over all it was good. i plan on going back to bring my little brother to see it.

This was a good movie, and very well done. However, I agree with the other reviewers... that the books are SO much better and give people more insight to Bella and Edwards world. There are things that if you have not read the books, you will not fully understand in the movie. Overall, I really liked the movie and would recommend this to my friends to see!! The casting was amazing, and were pretty close to how I envisioned the characters to look like when I read the books. Enjoy!!

I have been reading the Twilight series ever since the first book, Twilight came out. I was terrified that this movie would ruin my idea of the books, but this film was done very well. It exceeded my expectations and I consider it to be the best version that could have been done. The only thing I would have liked to see was there be more development between Bella's relationship with Alice. They don't appear to be close friends in this movie.

I have read half the book and I have to say AWSOME job bringing it to the big screen. Only a few things were changed but for the most part things have stayed true to the book, which is always great. If you could get past all the immature screaming girls, go see this at the latest possible showing cerfew people cerfew. Buy your tickets on line and definatly enjoy. Oh just a hint they bring more to the vampire myth in this story.

I have to say that my expectations of the movie were pretty high, so when I saw it at the midnight viewing, I was a bit disappointed. The casting was off for some of the characters, the acting was awkward and the music didn't really do it for me. BUT... after letting it sink in, I thought, huh that actually wasn't that bad, it will not be like the book so just "chillax"
I saw it again last night and absolutely loved it! I loved how the actors were kids and acted like high school kids. I went in just wanted to see how the acting really was, did they make me feel something, did they get the feelings between Edward and Bella right.... I truly look forward to seeing New Moon, if they make it!

The movie was way better than I thought it was going to be. Some parts were cheesy like: The fast running and climbing trees. I think that could have been better. The movie did move really fast, so you should read the first book before seeing it to know what's going on. It was funny too. Watching the movie made me want to reread the first book again. Everyone did a great job. I hope they make the next three....that would be really intresting.

I had really high hopes for the movie.Unfortunately the movie did not live up to the hype. I did read all the Twilight books,they are amazing and unforgettable.First of all when did William Shattner take the role of a 17 year-old vampire. Robert Pattinson did not live up to the novel Edward. He is supposed to be perfect in every way. Pattinson was a goof.The movie wasn't even long enough to get that full feeling of forever love between Edward and Bella.There was no vampire feel to the the movie either. The other cast members did a great job portraying their characters. I'm sure every teen girl recently obsessed with Robert Pattinson would disagree.The people I went with felt the same.At least they have 3 more chances to get things right.

No one who read the books will be disappointed. Many of the "pro" reviews of the movie are by people who never read the book and who therefore don't get it at all. The movie did a great job of being true to the book and the casting worked beautifully. The movie didn't portray the depth of the love between Bella & Edward so it seemed that they had been together a week and all of a sudden, they are willing to die for each other. The book of course does a much much better job of projecting the connection, chemistry and commitment between the characters. I just read a CNN review complaining that this movie wasn't good and adult enough because there was not enough sex...boy, did they totally miss the boat! Their loss.

If you read the book, you'll be able to sit back & enjoy the movie for what it is - a cliff notes version of the book. It might seem pretty choppy to someone who is just seeing the movie. The acting is a little blah, but I still enjoyed it because I loved the book series so much. Edward and Bella were perfect, as were Victoria, James, Laurent, Rosalie and Alice. No shortage of eye candy in this film, even as a 40 year old MOM I found the cast "yummy" - my daughter's expression. Even though many reviews haven't been too kind, I think the readers who love the books will just really enjoy seeing the story come to life on the big screen.

I was kinda forced to watch this movie coz my daughter (13)is in the "Twilight Zone" where everything and anything has gotto to be twilight-related.....if you know what I mean.But I actually enjoyed this movie,it had some very romantic moments and extremely touching scenes where love between Edward and Bella is shown beautifully.Stephanie Meyers obviously did an excellent job.I wish I had read the book though !!

Lovely interpretation of the novel. Twilight was done very well. Four of us went to the opening night show, Friday. My son and I, the readers loved every minute of the movie. We enjoyed the casting choices, and thought the plot was well maintained as the movie progressed. In regard to the guests we took with us that had no clue what Twilight was about, we of course won over one of them with rave rewiews, and the other, a male in his mid-thirties, was looking for a bit more in the special effects department instead of a love story. I very much enjoyed the crowd in the theater as well because of their reactions to the characters. We look forward to seeing the next installments in the theaters.

I really liked how they portrayed the awkwardness and intensity at the beginning before Bella knows that Edward is a vampire. Edward's "sparkle" was a little disappointing though. He just looked a little shimmery and I was expecting something more dramatic. I also thought that Bella and Edward's romantic relationship didn't develop enough. They seemed to go from "I could eat you" to "I love you!" very quickly. My advice is to read just the first book before you watch the movie. If you don't read any of the books, I would think that it would be confusing in some parts. Then again, if you've read all 4 books (like me), you might be frustrated in the way that some of the characters are portrayed, like Alice.

They skip a few parts that are in the book but, over all this is much better than I would have expected. But for summing up a 600 page book? this is probubly the best movie I have seen in a very very long time.
