If you're a fan of the series, you really MUST go see the movie. If you haven't read the books, don't bother.
While it is a fairly faithful adaptation of the book, it is clearly (and distractlingly) geared towards young, teenage girls. Edward is appropriately swoon-ey but his vampire makeup is tragically distracting (as is the makeup on ALL the vampires - bleh!). The actress cast to play Bella is great...as is the actor cast to play her dad, Charlie.
Fans of the books will fancy the love story, but I found it completely lacking the intensity created by the author in the books. The action and special effects scenes were cheesy and low budget.
All that said, I will no doubt go see the sequel(s) when they are released. Yes, I'm a sucker!
