This movie was so so. just like the rest of the Harry Potter movies. It had some good sf, but i would of like to see the characters devolop alot more. I would recommend seeing the movie at the cheaper price though. I do wish the directors could make the movies more like the books. I've read all seven books at least three times already. The dialogue is charming and the chemistry between the actors is undeniable. Every moment Alan Rickman appears onscreen is worth cheering for. However, the movie focuses more on the romantic aspects of the main characters and less on the things it should.
Avid Harry Potter readers will find themselves wondering what happened to Percy, Bill and Fleur. Dumbledore's army (as a group) does not make an appearance in this movie.
This movie has the feel of a romantic comedy with interspersing scenes of fantasy. There are moving points in the movie but in the end you'll find yourself leaving the theatre feeling like a disappointed bed partner. It was all snogging and no climatic point whatsoever.

My biggest problem with the movie was the beginning scene and the ending. Too much teen hormones and Dumbledore deserved his funeral. I was excited that this film was longer than 2 1/2 hours, but the time was not divided well! I understand that you can't fit a huge book into one movie but I really feel that Dumbledore needed his funeral.

They left out several important scenes and added several scenes that looked important but were never in the book. I think that if you hadn't read the books you'd thoroughly enjoy it. For the most part, this movie was good. Not great, just good. Too much was left out that, imo, is crucial to the integreity of the storyline. However, the level of the performances jumped skyhigh, especially Gambon's Dumbledore. For me, he finally became Albus Dumbledore in this film and not just a substitute for Richard Harris. Also, Alan Rickman was able to bring out more of the depth of Snape's character (and a small bit of sympathy from those who have read the 7th book and know what's to come).

Well Ruper Grint(Ron) was bloody funny. Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) was brilliant & got 2 c him do some comedy which was a change in the dark tale.Tom Felton (Malfoy), and other death eaters were coldly sharp!However the plot and the way the director chose 2 portray this book into a movie is a flop!It was more of a romantic comedy & only few scenes were added like the Tom Riddle's flashback & Dumbledore's death to show it was a Harry Potter film. this film was very well done, for most of the movie i was thoroughly enjoyed, the extra scenes not included in the book were amazing, they kept me on the edge of my seat. I understand they can not include everything word for word from the book so I won't go too nit picky on you, but some of the movie errors to the book worked for the better in the movie. I absolutely loved Luna Lovegood in this movie, she was adorable! My only major complaints were the lack of Bill Weasley (still) and Fleur which makes me think they won't be including them in the last movie... =o/ The end battle also upset me, I missed the DA! But overall very good. I'd definitely recommend.

Our biggest disappointment was the flow of the movie. It was choppy, and the story was not told the same way like the other five movies.
The acting was great except for Dumbledore and Draco. Slughorn was awesome and stole the scenes at some points.
The end should have made us care that Dumbledore was dead. But it was done so quickly and there wasn't even a funeral. Arogog received a better farewell than Dumbledore.

This was probably the worst of the HP movies so far. The book was very good and had quite a few subplots running through it that the movie seemed to overlook. They added one major scene into the movie that IN NO WAY occurred in the book and that made me very angry. It added nothing to the movie. If you have never read the books then I would say see the movie for entertainment purposes. If you HAVE read the books, beware unless you can keep an open mind.

While the movie was lacking some of the more in depth development of many of it's characters (including the half-blood prince) that the book had, it was able to meet the basic needs given it's 2 1/2 hour crunch. The humor was kicked up a few notches, the action was more intense than ever, and it was decent enough for the whole family. While it is no substitute for the book, it was my favorite of the movies thus far.

I thought the movie was great, but since I had read the book, I expected much more. Many battle scenes were taken out and the ending was a bit strange because the director had changed several details. Furthermore, compared with the rest of the movies in this series, this film was a lot more of a love story.

There were some scary parts in the book so you can exspect some to pop up in the movie. My kids love all the other movies and I am glad that I had a chance to see it before they will, so that I will be able to be ready for their questions. The Half-Blood Prince is (I’m sad to say) merely a good movie that had a chance at greatness. I am of course talking about the death of Albus Dumbledore. Why deviate from the text on this most important of plot points, why did they not give it the time and care it deserved, does anyone really think that Harry would just stand by and watch as Draco points his wand at Dumbledore or better yet listen to Snape in such a situation? David Yates, Steve Kloves and Producers David Heyman and David Barron really had a chance to make a great movie not merely a good one and the irony of it all is that they wouldn’t have lost one ticket sale because of it. Out of all of the movies that I have seen, I was really disappointed with this one. I was expecting more action in the movie. I did not read the book because I know that movie companies usually do not follow the book that much anyways. Burning Hagrid's home was totally unnecessary because it initially gives you the implication that he was killed also. Also, when the deatheaters gained access to Hogwarts, why would they just settle on destroying the dining area and Hagrid's home? You would have thought that they may have tried to take out the other instructors. I just think that the storyline spent way too much time developing these love relationships which really do not add that much to the movie.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

This is the best of the lot. They did not put everyone's favorite scenes in here, for example, the meeting between the ministers at the beginning of the book, but they had the most important plot points in the movie. While reading the book, I found Slughorn extremely annoying, however, Jim Broadbent's performance changed that by making him a very sympathetic character. What briliant acting. I will never read Slughorn with annoyance again.

A strong cast and good Without providing any spoilers, I felt the ending was the absolute worse. The dialog was completely inappropriate given the events that had just taken place. Maggie Smith is used way too little, Sean Biggerstaff is still MIA which really kills the game scenes. While we see more of Harry and Ron interacting, we see much less of Hermione Granger on a scene by scene basis. Alas, poor Hagrid visits the set long enough to pick up his school paycheck. Likely one of the biggest disappointments was Tom Felton who plays Dragos. He has been wonderful a side note character during the previous installments but an expanded role proves to much and he really lacks any depth or soul in his performance.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I thought the overall movie was great although slightly different from the book in some aspects. Kept me guessing on a lot of the action and created a good deal of suspence. The ending left me wondering and waiting for the next movie(s).

Much was made between a wizard battle between Harry and Malfoy. Didn't happen. Malfoy sulked around in shadows for most of the film...one minor wand "shoot-out," then the two opponents just glare at each other until the end, when Snape steps in and Killy Dumbledor. Malfoy and his connection to the Dark Lord was never shown. Dark Lord never even appeared, except in flash backs of him as a kid. If this was the last of the Potter films...it fizzeled! Too much teen kissy face, love charms, which distracted from the mood of the film. Malfoy is not believable as a wizard hit man.
Sorry guys. Wait for the DVD
