well, i was a little disappointed because it seemed like i was waiting the whole movie.. for what i don't exactly know.. i just know that i didn't stop the "waiting".. and the whole ron and lavender bit was really overplayed.. i wish the director would've spent more time on the fights.. and dumbeldore and harry's trips rather than just ron and lavender and hermione triangle.

I ENJOYED IT VERY MUCH, FOR NOT READING THE BOOK. THE EFFECTS, THE STORY, AND HOW THE CHARACTERS HAVE GROWN ON US. GROWING UP WITH THIS SERIES HAS BEEN ENJOYABLE. Too many people expect the movies to hold closely to the book. The longer the book, the more they must leave out. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It flowed well, had humor and suspense. Get a grip. Suspend disbelief and enjoy yourself. Don't analyze. Let yourself be entertained.

I am bummed that they left out the whole Dumbledore funeral. This was the mega epic deal in the book. Why would they leave that out unless they are going to put it in the next movie.
It was disappointing as they did not put into the movie the much needed information that they seem to leave out every movie since number 3. I just hope that they do better in the next two.

The movie was excellent. Although as a fan of the books I have to admit that I was a little disappointed at some of the things left out of the movie. Truth be told however, everything that was left out was not really needed, unlike some things in earlier movies. Overall, I thought the movie's pace was good, and I never lost interest. Excellent movie going experience, well worth the price of admission.

The movie was very entertaining I have to give the credit where it is due. But as entertaining as it was, there were parts that jumped from one thing to a totally different scene immeadiatly and it would probally be a little confusing to someone who just watched the movie and doesn't read the books. The actors did a great job with their characters and the new look for george and fred was great. You need to make the movie so that a non reader won't go what is going on I thought we were here and now a house is burnning . But the movie was good and I would go see it a second time too no matter what, there is always something wrong with a movie no matter how good it is :)

We were a bit deflated when we left the theater. It seems as if this movie did nothing more than lay the framework for the next movie. It was long, slow, and filled with drama vs. action. I would have preferred to watch it at home...if at all.

I am a die hard potter fan and I expect the movies to be loyal to the books. I felt that David yates added scenes to the movie that added nothing to the plot and that only served to make up for the abscence of a fight scene in the end. Also, this book was unique because it gave you a chance to get to know voldemort and by the end of the movie you don't know voldemort any better.that being said, looking at it strictly as a movie, it was pretty good but as an adaptation of the book I found it to be a little disappointing. However I do have faith that David yates will pull through in the last two movies.

I kept a very open mind going into this movie. I didn't want to tell myself that it was going to suck right off the start and I'm glad I didn't. I very much enjoyed Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. As are all Harry Potter movies, it was lengthy and a little hard to follow if you hadn't been keeping up with the books or the other movies. I felt the special effects were wonderful and amazing to watch. There were certain scenes I had expected to see once I had read the book and was delighted when I saw them in the movie. There was even a great deal of humor to keep everyone awake! Overall I would say the movie excellently depicted the important need-to-know items from the book. I plan on seeing it again.

Well, if you didn't read the book, then the movie is satisfying. I did read the book and I missed how much more the story went into Voldemort's past. Also, I thought the ending was better done according to the book. The move got the basic information to progress the overall story out, but I felt it cheated what I considered the best book.

This movie was the best so far! I was trying to not get my hopes up too much because I have to say that the 6th book is one of my least favorite but this movie exceeded my expectations and beyond. The actors/actresses all performed wonderfully. Their performances quite a bit stronger, some new characters in this movie as well who did a very good job embodying their characters. This one was a little more informative and not quite so much action so that may be a turn off for some. Overall it was a great movie and addition to the amazing series and everybody should check it out!

My husband, 12 year old nephew, and I really enjoyed the movie. Sure there were some parts left out, but short of turning it into a 2 part movie like the next one (that would have been fine by me) some parts had to be left out. The movie was outstanding. It stirs up great emotion and the prophecy of Harry Potter himself. Motion pictures are just what the word implies, a movie, it cannot be the book. The ability to fill in those gaps not included in the movie from the book with your imagination, gives it a greater purpose. It forces you to use your knowledge about the series and appreciate the key messages. If you can't read or in this case view, between the lines, you've missed everything. The book cannot be compared to the film on the same level. It was a great film with moving moments that make the Harry Potter films so special.

This movie was more of a transition movie than a "stand alone" type of film. It did the setup for the last two (as did this book in the series). I have read the Rawlings books, and enjoyed them. I have seen the movies and enjoyed them as well. For those who just wanted to see an action--magic filled-- scary at times movie about an evolving wizard-- they will be a bit disappointed in the scarcity of those scenes.. But, saying that, the movie is well made, and well acted, the special effects are quite mesmerizing. It is worth the ticket. Enjoy.

I love the HP books! HBP focused a lot more on the relationships that were forming than the most critical plot lines (Riddle's past/Dumbledore's memories). Did I really need to see that much of Ron and Lavender's relationship? Not so much, but I enjoyed it! I think if I had gone with my husband (who has not read any of the books but enjoys the movies), he would have been lost and confused. But as a fan, I always enjoy seeing JK Rowling's books brought to life!

I was quite worried going into the movie theater. I was very disappointed in Goblet, happier with Order, but I had heard a few reviews about random scenes added to Half-Blood Prince. I am a die hard Potter fan, I've read all the books multiple times, and as much as I can understand that the movies are NOT the books, it's really hard to separate the two. But was really happy about the movie though. I loved it! It's funny, it's sad, and David Yates did a much better job this time, or investing the audience emotionally on what happens. Knowing what happens in the book, my biggest problem with the movie is that the ending is a little anticlimactic, but again, since Yates was so able to engross me into the emotional aspect, I can live with it.

If you have not read the book, I think it would be hard to follow...too many important details left out, and some that were added that did not happen in the book (which was very annoying). I definitely prefer the book to the movie. I realise it is a long book and they can't put every detail into the movie, but it seemed like they just tried too hard to make everything fit...these books just aren't the type of book that can be crammed into a 2 and a half hour movie.

Very disappointed. This was the worst of the series. Is someone new doing the script? It was slow and did not make the important issues of the book stand out. The ending was dull to say the least. I am a Harry Potter Book Fan! Too many good things were left out of the movie that were in the book. Disappointed in not seeing Dumbledores funeral and the fighting at Hogwarts with the Deatheaters. Hopefully the next two movies will be better. Yes they are making two movies our of the last book.

As a huge fan of the books, I know it is impossible to keep all the details of the book in the movie, but I think this one was done very well. I just really liked the way it flowed and kept all the important plot points that I remember from the book.

I waited for a year with high hopes after reading HP&THBP, and have to say I was a little disappointed. I realize that they would have needed 5 or 6 hours to really do the book justice. If I hadnt read the book, I would probably have enjoyed it more. I am looking forwars to the DVD to see deleted scenes, and hope that maybe there would be a Directors cut of 4hrs or better.

As the movie was by far the best in the series, the special effects were a leap ahead of the last movie. I loved the Dark tones, and dark shades throughout the film. However the movie left so much important stuff from the book out of the movie, its enough to make your head spin. While there was good character development, I felt a lot of key characters were also missing. This movie needed more Snape in it, where as he was maybe in 5 scenes total in the movie. There is always room for improvement, and I hope by braking the last film into 2 movies will do it justice.

This movie was a giant disappointment. There was little plot, unpursued story lines eg. Deatheaters kidnapping of Olivander, and the ending fell completely flat leaving viewers wondering why the deatheaters suddenly abandon their destruction of Hogwarts, now that Dumbledore is dead.
Not sure if I will see the next two. Loved the books though!
