I'm 27. and my response is not the same as the totally involved teens and tweens at my show. The actors were great. The screenplay - expected much more: more plot, better directing, better special effects. The actors kept me watching and enjoying. But on makeup, the werewolf and vampire special effects, etc-- it seemed almost amateurish.. The series deserves so much more
Yes, I recommend this movie.

A Great Concert in Waiting

I went to see this movie with few expectations- out of respect for a great artist lost. Within a few moments I remembered just why he was considered great. This movie has enough footage for us to "see" what the full concert would have been like. All the songs you expect to hear/see are there- with others not heard before. MJ's sheer mastery of every aspect of the show is astounding, fascinating. And, of course, the voice, the dancing, the moves, the sheer power of the man on stage. Now I remember. Recommend it? Yes Yes Yes. To everyone who was a M J fan. To everyone who has seen any concert and can appreciate all that goes into it. To everyone. Period. It is for all colors, for all ages. I will see it again. LOVED IT
This movie was more of a transition movie than a "stand alone" type of film. It did the setup for the last two (as did this book in the series). I have read the Rawlings books, and enjoyed them. I have seen the movies and enjoyed them as well. For those who just wanted to see an action--magic filled-- scary at times movie about an evolving wizard-- they will be a bit disappointed in the scarcity of those scenes.. But, saying that, the movie is well made, and well acted, the special effects are quite mesmerizing. It is worth the ticket. Enjoy.
The movie as a stand-alone project is worth the time and money. Good action. Ron Howard had to cut so much out, that the story is a bit choppy, but Hanks pulls it together. I enjoyed it. I would recommend it on its own merit. However The book is light years ahead. Almost the first half of the book is missing--the female character goes to the Vatican in tank top and shorts, and the suspense, wrong turns, non-stop intrigue is mind-riveting. (Oh, and should i mention the chosen pope?). Book is Indiana Jones intense... movie is just another mystery.
