I am NOT a fan of fiction - especially superhero type movies, they are just too ridiculous. I saw Dark Knight reluctantly about 2 weeks ago, and I just purchased tickets to see it again tonight! All I can say is WOW! This movie kept you involved all the way through; it was a roller coaster of adventure. Heath Ledger was absolutely brilliant as the Joker; he made the movie for me. He's the big draw that makes me want to see it again. I never even saw Batman Begins, and I probably won't watch it now - don't need to. I'm sad that Heath won't be around for the next one in the series as the end totally sets up for a part three.
My only...only complaint about the film is Christian Bale's overexaggerated "Batman" voice! It just sounds so forced and almost painful - borderline annoying!
If you haven't seen this movie yet - see it! See it in a theater to get the full effect. Though I intend to purchase this when it comes out on DVD, I want one more in theater experience tonight!
R.I.P. Heath and thank you for sharing your talents with us...

This movie won't disappoint! Action packed from start to finish, all the actors did an excellent job, especially Heath Ledger (may he rest in peace) , who gives the performance of a lifetime and even out-shines Jack Nicholson's Joker! Great battle sequences and special effects...This Batman sequel is definitely not one to be missed! Go see The Dark Night!

I can't believe they did it!
I can't believe they made a movie this exciting without compromising the story or acting. (Take notes "Transformers")
I can't believe they got us to care equally about everyone in the love triangle and got the point across without making us say "OK we get it, now back to the action" (Take notes "Spiderman 3")
I can't believe Heath Ledger's performance lived up to all the hype I'd been hearing. The praise he's getting is not in the spirit of "a dead artists work is always worth more"- No, this guy was perfectly sick & with his ticks and his lip-smacking. He made me go Ewww! but I couldn't stop giggling at his charisma with the role and yet at the same time he left me shaking and happy he was playing fictional character.
I can't believe that I couldn't find one thing they could have done better. After we saw the movie my husband asked me what i thought, I said, "It was the best action movie I'd ever seen". He thought I was being sarcastic, because I love to nit-pick a movie. Somehow Hollywood can't avoid getting ridiculous with a big budget. But it was utterly flawless.
The Dark Knight is UNBELIEVABLE.

Christopher Nolan flawlessly crams two and a half hours of wickedly dark drama and breathtaking suspence into this action packed thrill-ride, The Dark Knight.
Christian Bale's executes a brooding, torn Bruce Wayne so well, you have to wonder if he also has a very dark side to himself. Aaron Eckhart plays a great new character, the lead District Attorney, working with the police and Batman to clean up the crime bosses of Gotham.
As for Heath Ledger, no Joker of the past can even come close to his performance. There will never again be a more convincingly deranged and evil Joker on the big screen. The Academy would be fools if they didn't give Ledger the Oscar this year. We've lost a truly great actor.
The misdirection and suspense never seem to cease in this wonderfully executed recent addition to the Batman saga. This one will definitely go down in Cinema history.

I had been looking forward to seeing The Dark Knight since I saw the first trailer last year. To be honest, the part of the trailer that really drew me in was the small glimpse of Heath Ledger as the Joker...and this was before his tragic death...I knew, as I'm sure plenty of others did, that his performance was going to be something special. Heath Ledger steals every single scene he is in...I could not take my eyes off of him...his Joker is twisted, funny, and horrifying. Christian Bale is a strong Batman and I enjoyed his performance. I wish Maggie Gyllenhaal had been given more to do as Rachel Dawes, though. I think the fact that Rachel is Bruce Wayne's little ray of normalcy is a strong storyline that should have been a bit futher explored. That aside, I think this movie is amazing. It pulls you in from the vert start and keeps you hooked until the very end. I know I can't wait until the next Batman. Hopefully, Christopher Nolan will head that one up, too.

I went to see this movie with great anticipation. It has made a lot of money and anyone and everyone says this movie is 'amazing'. Nope. Heath Ledger was a very entertaining Joker and I enjoyed him very much. Morgan Freeman I liked as well. The rest of the movie was like watching paint dry. It was very, very slow and involved way too much in the way of back story. And I don't understand why Christian Bale is suddenly talking like Clint Eastwood when he is wearing the Batman costume. It was very distracting.
I have been a fan of Batman for nearly 30 years. This movie was just okay. I liked Ironman better.

The Joker was involved in so much mentally crazy activity that I really didn't feel like I was at a Batman movie. I felt more like I was watching "The Shining" or "Silence of the Lambs" or "Hannibal." This movie is long, but I never got bored. I found myself begging for the end because I was simply overwhelmed by the Joker's ability to just murder one person after another without end! Like in the movie "Seven," I felt the Joker would just go on killing until "he" simply felt like stopping! To me, this was the best "murdering mad man" movie I've seen in a long time. The plot was wonderful, and the twist at the end was wonderful too. Some parts were predictable, but many parts were not -- the killing, torture, and havoc level was very unexpected.

The acting in this movie was superb. I would recommend it to my adult friends. Honestly though, there is no way I would ever bring my kids. The tone of the show was so dark and disturbing. It was almost so shocking as to not be fun, ergo the four star rating. Hopefully, the next installment will have a more hopeful message.

Just turning 30 puts me inside the bracket of experiencing all of the Batman movies. Tim Burtons 1989 version of Batman and Joker was an experience that brought wonder back to the Bat. Unfortunately as the movies progressed the quality of acting or story lines did not. They seemed to get less and less serious as the first, and always going no where. Seeing Danny Devito as the Penguin was a great choice but the story line was not, and frankly the advancement for that type of movie was not yet in place. As we degress into the mess that became Batman, Jim Carrey (Riddler), Tommy Lee Jones (A cheesy Two Face), a horrible movie about Cat Woman (Hale Berry) and last and certainly the least....Mr. Freeze (The Governator, and his very soft sidekick Robin (Chris Odonnell) I shutter at the thought. The Dark Knight has rejuvenated the series. This was a fantastic success of not only casting but screen play as well. From Maggie Gylllenall to Gary Oldman, Michael Kane, Christain Bale, and of course the man in this movie The Joker. Heath Ledger became the Joker or The Joker was inside Heath Ledger. He is and was truly worthy of all the praise he has received so far to date. There were many moments of jumping in startle to his decadence of menace. Aaron Eckhart was not only believable as Two Face he complimented the entire movie without taking away from the other actors, like Batman Forever (Carey, Lee Jones.) This is without a doubht the most true to actual story of Batman. He is a hero in a true sense, he was never intended to have super natural powers. He is shown as a human in these films and pushed the limits of being one. Truly a great film and I would recommend this film to all who love movie going not just this style and story line. Simply put...go see it in the theater before you miss out.

The movie was ok, but definitely not the hoopla that’s been in the news. Action and special effects were good but the storyline was slow and at times hard to follow. No chemistry between Christian Bale and Maggie Gyllenhaal. I think Katie Holmes was much better as Rachel Dawes, would have liked to see her come back to revise her role.

Heath Ledger plays The Joker in probably the most believable way. Instead of the comic bookish portrayals in the past, he plays a true sociopath. Christian Bale plays a troubled soul as opposed to the oafish Adam West or unbelieveable Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer or a too suave George Clooney. The past two Batman movies really show how a real person would deal with the events in one's life leading to adopting an alter ego such as Batman. This was an excellent sequel to an excellent start. I just hope the next continues along the same lines. If you get the chance to see this movie, don't pass it up.

The only thing that I could think to say at the end of The Dark Knight was "wow." Everyone that appeared in the movie nailed their respective parts perfectly. I am an avid comic book reader and when I heard that Heath Ledger was playing the part of Joker, I think I did little more than roll my eyes. I was hoping for a performance that would echo the comics rather than the clown as Jack Nicholson portrayed him.
All in all, this movie was totally awesome. Since I am a bigger fan of Spider-Man than I am of Batman, I can't say that this tops my personal list of best movies ever, but it is definitely in the top 10.

This movie was exactly what all Batman movies should be. Everything was exactly right: the rendering of Gotham, showing how corruption has taken hold of every aspect of life there, Bruce Wayne's inner conflict, the tension between Bruce and Rachel, Harvey's righteousness and his frustration with the lack of fairness, the Joker's complete insanity and thirst for mayhem...everything! So much better than Batman Begins, and I loved that one. Flawless. I will be seeing it again and again!

Great movie. Good story line with rich characters. The Joker will go down in histroy as the best. It's sad Heath Ledger won't ever be seen again. Although a long movie it is fast paced and did not drag anywhere. Christian Bale responded well to the need for the Batman to use his dark side to overcome and be the hero that was needed.
