Being a self-proclaimed comic geek, I had high expectations from this film. It hit on nearly every level. I expected there to be some deviation from the GN, but felt that had I not read it multiple times, I would have felt as lost as my wife did (who hasn't read it). Much like the book, it skipped from scene to scene without much explanation as to why characters did what they did or how they got to where they were. I highly recommend the film, but would advise reading the book for the full experience.
We thought the movie was good and a fairly good representation of the book. Although, from a movie going experience it was just ok. The pace was good, it didn't drag at all, but the plot wasn't nearly as good as DaVinci Code. And the twist at the end was way too predictable.
The only thing that I could think to say at the end of The Dark Knight was "wow." Everyone that appeared in the movie nailed their respective parts perfectly. I am an avid comic book reader and when I heard that Heath Ledger was playing the part of Joker, I think I did little more than roll my eyes. I was hoping for a performance that would echo the comics rather than the clown as Jack Nicholson portrayed him.
All in all, this movie was totally awesome. Since I am a bigger fan of Spider-Man than I am of Batman, I can't say that this tops my personal list of best movies ever, but it is definitely in the top 10.
