I have never liked Star Trek or even attempted to watch a single episode. Yet I decided to check out this movie. The movie was well acted, visually amazing, and a great way to start the summer movie lineup. I recommend it to honestly anyone.

I've never quite understood all the hoopla about Star Trek. it always seemed to me like low-budget 70's sci-fi. My generation preferred Star Wars. If I had to compare the new Star Wars (Episodes I, II, or III) to the new Star Trek, I might have to give it to Star Trek. The character development for Spock and Kirk is great. Most of the characters have, in my book, surpassed the supposed charm of the original Star Trek cast. From an emotional stand-point, the initial scene sets up the entire movie incredibly well. One criticism is the usage of time travel by a certain character to sum up the entire plot. This is a cheap way to bring other characters up to speed.

I've never been a Star Trek fan - never watched the tv shows or any of the previous movies - but this movie was still amazing. I didn't need to know any background coming in, it gave it to me in an exciting and entertaining way.

Seeing a lot of the personalities of the original series was great as well as the much higher quality of the film compared to the other Star Trek movies. By far the best Trek movie to date. The money spent on this production was obvious.

I was sucked in from the beginning. The casting was spot on, not a weakness in the group. The story did a good job of getting through all the exposition, while adding in action to keep the movie moving. They did a fatnastic job of rebooting the series while remaining in the original series' universe opening the door for much more from this vehicle in the future. I really think that they should turn this into a reboot of the series, if they could get all of the actors to do a weekly one hour episode, that would be awesome; I would definitely watch it religiously. Way to go J.J. Abrams!

A movie for two generations - those who grew up with the original Shatner/Nimoy series and those yet to go places no one's gone before. Shatner's Kirk was campy and overacted. Pine's Kirk has just enough Shatner to bring back good memories of the original and why we all loved it so much while bringing a fresh twist to the role. And who could doubt that two Spocks are better than one. Combine a great story with great effects, fresh faces and the right nostalgia and you have one great summer movie.

Like many of my generation (35-45 demographic), I enjoyed Star Trek (the original) as much as anyone. But am I a Trekkie? No- not even close. This version of "Star Trek" was such an homage to the series and filled in a lot of the personal gaps from the series in very entertaining fashion. The only thing I didn't enjoy was that there were too many falls from great heights (yes, I am afraid of heights)! But everything else about the movie was terrific! I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to be entertained (not to mention, get their money's worth for the ticket price).

I grew up watching Star Trek as a child, so I honestly expected this movie to be lame. Boy, was I wrong. Yes, they changed some of the concepts from the original series (i.e. Spock w/ Uhura vs. Kirk) but I found myself loving it vs. hating it. Special effects were phenominal. Everything looked completely real, even the crazy monster on the ice planet, which is a credit to whatever company did the effects. I will definitely recommend this to all my friends.

The makers of this decided that they were going to spawn off an 'alternate reality' because of actions of a deranged Romulan from the future. They managed to pull this off by changing some details about the core characters' origins without altering significantly the relationships between the characters that we all have grown to love about the original series. Many of the best feelings I got from the movie were when they got this right. Thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommended for all.
The characterizations always drove ST, not the SF details. This was fun, exciting, and a wild ride. What more do you want?

The reboot was a story of how the crew of Enterprise 1701 was assembled. They brought back the characters we love. Fast pace, funny, was on the edge of my seat the whole. I am leaving to see it again in about 10 minutes.

A pretty darn good movie, however the storyline was a little disappointing. Why? First, Spock's mother didn't die in the series and second, Vulcan wasn't destroyed in the series or movies.
But I quibble over the small stuff. The acting was great and the special effects were awesome.

I've never liked Star Trek movies and it wasn't really my choice to go see it, but it was surprisingly pretty good. However, it was still a little too much of big spaceships shooting big lasers at each other for me. Most of the characters were really well done though.

While this may not be the start of a whole slew of Star trek origin films, this one had alot to keep the older gen satisfied with the references to how things started.
Good special effects,witty dialogue and a surprise visit made it a quick 2 hours. For the under 50+ gen this may have been somewhat hard to piece together,but a really worthwhile movie regardless.
The only gripe was the villian Nero(no Khan by any means) was not fleshed out enough,but no biggie.

This movie was what we trekkies had hoped for, with the action, storyline and humor worthy of the star trek title. The actors were fabulous, with all the right mannerisms and phrases from TOS. Also there were good action scenes without the blood and gore that sometimes are included in other titles. Our whole family loved this one!

Initially, was not interested in seeing the movie based on not having the original Star Trek characters. However, the storyline and characters made this a highly entertaining movie, even if you are an original Trekkie. I would highly recommend this movie to all who are original Star Trek fans. Will definately purchase DVD when it comes out.

OMG What can I say. It is a great new approach to Star Trek. Simple and right to the point. The action is awesome had us on the edge of our seats the whole time. The actors really did thier homework and it so shows it too. If you miss this you missed EVERYTHING.

Great movie!!!! Special effects we fantastic. Love how everything is more upgraded. Another big boon is the way they have set up a completely different storyline that does not directly conflict with the established Star Trek universe. I will definately will see it in theaters again.

Star Trek is rebooted by director J.J. Abrams on the big screen! Let's get started; Star Trek was spectacular. The action immediately grabs you and never lets go! Cast members like Simon Pegg and Chris Pine are hilarious! Story is great (especially since it's a prequel to the TV series) and drama rises at few scenes which is amazing in the movie! Overall, Star Trek owns May (until Pixar's Up!) with tons of action, hilarious dialouge and cast members, and bits of drama. Star Trek is its own beast. See it in IMAX!

As a long time Star Trek fan I went to this movie with much trepidation. Boy, was I wrong! This movie was GREAT! If you are a Star Trek fan you'll love this movie. If you're not a Star Trek fan, you'll love this movie. They did an excellent job of linking the prequal to the original series and, the special effects are some of the best I've seen in years! An A+ job by JJ Abrams and crew! I'm already waiting for the next one!

I had never seen the original movies, never knew why. I guess I was just beyond the curb of the generation. However, from what I have come to know through pop culture, this movie is by all means excellent. J.J. Abrams is really making a name for himself and being an avid follower of "LOST" he has not yet disappointed me. A combination of amazing visual effects and a very dynamic yet cohesive cast make this movie one of my favorites of 2009.

This newest in the Star Trek series is a fantastic ride. The special effects, cinematography and soundtrack are all right on. The opening sequences is a real tear jerker and the end with the passing of the baton between the old cast and the new brought tears to my eyes. Thank you JJ Abrams for continuing the saga with a first class reboot!
