Great movie! The actors did such a wonderful job putting their own spin on their characters. Any comparisons we had to the originals were positive. I particularly enjoyed Karl Urban's take on "Bones" & in the very last scene, Chris Pine's apparent homage to William Shatner. Great stuff! You don't need to have seen the series or previous movies, but it would be even more enjoyable if you have.

I loved it! Action packed. Great acting. Hopefully this group of actors will take Star Trek to the "next generation". Loved the comedy, and the glimpses into the directors love of Star Wars.

This movie did not disappoint. The actors that portrayed the original Star Trek characters did an outstanding job. Leonard Nimoy was an unexpected pleasure. The storyline was exciting, suspenseful, and funny at the same time. I would definately recommend this movie to Trekkies and non-Trekkies. It shouldn't be missed!

This movie is similar to the first STO film and the original TNG film in that it is somewhat weak as it establishes new actors/characters. The 2nd film has always been better and with the unfinished storyline it sets up its sequel well. NO, I will not tell you the loose end - it might ruin the film for you!

Yes, the new film is as good as 'Wrath of Khan.' There are some surprising changes to things, but it's ok. Quantum Theory takes care it; the writers took great care with the canon of the Star Trek universe. It all works out in the end. It's this year's Dark Knight. I STRONGLY recommend this movie to anyone: old fans and new fans.

This prequel is extremely well done and can definitely stand on its own. I never watched the TV show but have enjoyed all of the movies and this one was no exception. I'm hoping there will be yet another one. Casting was excellent and it was fun to see each interpretation of the characters.

The result here is a movie that plays like an action-packed space odyssey with rejuvenated characters who end up being funny and intense enough to restart the series. Eric Bana is a cool bad guy on a mission. You don't have to be a fan of the original TV series to enjoy this non-stop action movie that's fun to watch.

What a great way to re energize the Star Trek franchise. This is the movie that we have been waiting to see for years...
Firstly the actors they picked to play the major chars were great. I could nit pick here but it would take away from the general satisfaction I had. Just when you thought that no one could play Spock but Nemoy they found Zachary. The guy could be Nemoys son they are so similar.
The story is great as expected. Well written and not written in a way that it has that "we came up with this just so we could put together yet another movie" feel. Just the right mix of old school trek humor, action, and really pretty space battles.

I watched the originals as a kid and I never got on the Star Trek Bandwagon when it was revamped on TV . But I totally loved this movie. It had the action, comedy and brought new life to all the familiar characters of yesteryear. The directing and the acting was awesome. I liked that Leonard Nimoy was involved with this. It just goes to show the amount of respect all whom were involved had for the original Star Trek. It was obvious. :)

First, this is a good movie even if you have never seen a star treck movie before; so trekies can take a novice. Second, I was fourteen when the original sieries came out and watched it and all of the others offerings to come with varying degrees of interest. This is one of the best offerings of the bunch. It does an excellent job of honoring it's roots and seeting the stage for more great movies to come.

I went into this film not expecting much. How wrong I was! J.J. Abrams finds a way to enable future Star Trek movies with this new cast while at the same time not degrading the original property. I won't give away any spoilers but, rest assured, it works within the Star Trek universe.
The cast was absolutely fantastic in their renditions of already established characters. It seemed that they each went out of their way to capture the essence of the characters without doing a silly caricature of the original actors' portrayals. Overall, I found nothing bad about this movie. Star Trek fans will find many little references for their enjoyment, while viewers who may not be as familiar with the franchise will still be able to jump right in.

I was hesitant about seeing this movie, but boy was I surprised! Not only did the movie pay homage to the canon (mostly) without being a slave to it, but casting and characterizations of our beloved Star Trek family was so amazing that any continuity or technical problems was easily overlooked.
Alex Kurtzman, a Star Trek fan himself, took great care to treat this movie with the kind of respect that HARDCORE fans such as myself would appreciate while making a fresh film that newcomers to the Star Trek universe would enjoy thoroughly without a need to know every aspect of the Star Trek canon.
There have been some Star Trek movies in the past that I have enjoyed watching over and over again. There is no doubt that this is one of them!!!

Excellent film with credible acting and spectacular special effects, especially the Romulan "drill" that was used to plant the "red matter".
A few chills ran up my spine when the Star Trek logo appeared on screen right after James Tiberius Kirk is born and at the end when Nimoy gives the all important mission statement that was the opening preface to every TV episode. This film really exemplifies the sci-fi action genre.
Surely, this cast and crew should be good for the start of another series or at least one film a year for the next decade. I'll look forward to either one or both at the same time.
Star Trek lives long and prospers.

I'm not a huge Star Trek fan...more of a Star Wars fan, honestly, yet this would be the best of the Star Trek movies I have seen. Great character development, great humor, awesome action...just a great blend that was well balanced. All actors did fantastic...as I had some hesitations with Harold of Harold and Kumar not doing well. I would be willing to go see it again actually...and I'm not one to see a movie twice (due to prices). Good stuff. Recommended, even if you are NOT a Star Trek person and just want a good action movie.

I'm a die-hard Trekkie from childhood, so I had some reservations about changes to 'canon'. I can tell you some moments made me go 'wait, that's not...' and then I realized: I just didn't care. The acting is top-notch: enough similarity to the original characters that they're recognizable, but without mimicry or parody. The script is smart and fast and fun. The effects are incredible. I'll see this again in the theater, and buy it when it's available - it's *that good*.

This trip to the threater became my most favorite movie-going experience in my life time. JJ Abrams did a masterful job of re-creating this time honored franchise. He paid careful enough attention to Star Trek cannon to get away with creating what could be a completely new phenomenon. And trust me, if you are one of those hard core Trekkies - you will easily forgive the changes he makes. Witty, explosive and with breathtaking effects - this is a movie you will want to watch time and time again.

This was one of the best movies that we have seen in a long time. It brought back memories, and stayed true to the orgianl TV program.
This was the 1st time we had gone to the Marquee-Orchard 10 in Toms River. Had a great experince, seating was well thought out, throuly enjoyed. This will be our movie theatre in the Toms River area.

What they've done was create a completely new 'alternate reality' the allows the original crew have brand new adventures with new technology that would not have matched the original series. They are not bound the the 'rules and history' of the original Star Trek and can take this arc and run with it!
We've see it already shifting with the Uhura arc. I won't give any anything else, but people that have see the movie will know what I mean. This can develop into something that is now allowable in the 21st century and couldn't be shown in 60's TV.
We went with friends that were not original trekies and they even loved the movie. It's a great movie to watch especially if you like seeing Kirk get beat up a lot!

The writing and cast did such a great job of capturing these icons that the movie was a little like going back in time and watching an old friend's life in a time before you knew them. Didn't hurt that Kirk is hot.

I am not, by any stretch of the imagination, a "Trekie", "Treker", or whatever they prefer to be called these days, not did I go through the whole movie nitpicking, looking for gaffes, flaws, unfaithfulness to the original. What I did was to have a blast with my son, 5 years old, and my mother. There are a couple of "scary" scenes. But, what a magnificent science fiction vision, and yes, Gene Rodddenberry would indeed be very proud.
PS- the green girl, Ulhura's roommate? A perfect nod to Kirk's fondness for green alien women.
