I wasn't going to go to this movie because the previews looked like just another karate movie in space. However, I decided to go because I liked the original Star Trek series on TV.
This movie was great! It explained the transitions for the characters, the reasons for changes and the feelings within the characters. It was very much like the original Star Trek and very believable.
This is one of the best movies this year.

I wasn't a star trek fan before but now I really am! I loved it! It was funny and had great action scenes! I like it WAY more than Star Wars! :)

There are only two films that qualify as science fiction and have four stars out of four stars - The Empire Strikes Back, and E.T. I think that here we have a contender of perfection and a remarkable array of characters plots subplots that are ammunition for a potential series of media that will constantly rot our brains and help us realize our potential and our possible future and dreams. A+

Smart way to be able to start from scratch. We know the characters, but not tied to the old story lines. Great casting. I'm an OST fan and I loved them. Great adventure. We can't wait for the next one.

Totally gave me a long awaited Star Trek fix. Love the connections ... no wonder they were always in trouble in the series and movies. Nothing but a bunch of rebels. Great stuff, must see, can't wait for the next one. Cinerama or Imax is the best way to see this movies!

This film shattered all expectations. JJ, the writers and the cast, really did their homework and it paid off. Attention to detail was paid. Lines from the previous films and television series made it familiar and relevant. Creating an alternate reality, allows for all-new adventures incorporating characters we love. Chris & Zach expertly recreated the chemistry of Kirk and Spock but still created something entirely new.
I loved this movie saw it twice. May see it again. But my favorite inside joke was having Kirk, Sulu and a guy in red, head down to the planet, knowing the guy in red was never coming back. Just like in the TOS.
Well done...all involved.

Fantastic Movie. Great for even non-Trek fans. On the edge of your seat from right at the beginning.
For true Trek fans, there were 3 major errors that I think need to be changed or addressed, but still a great tribute to the old cast. I plan on going to see it at least two more times in the theater, and definately will be buying the DVD when it comes out.

This movie basically allows for a whole new generation to enjoy the franchise. Old trekkies will enjoy the seeing their favourite crew on the big screen once again, and new trekkers will enjoy a fresh start to this awesome universe. They no longer need to watch all the previous storylines, this is a fresh start!
Watching the old movies and episodes will make watching this movie more enjoyable, but it's a great movie on it own too.

This was the bomb! I was ready to see it again once it ended; then I thought - when's the sequel? This movie is definitely worth seeing. My husband and I don't normally go to the movies because we buy them once they go to video; but I didn't want to wait. This was worth the money!!!

The new Star Trek has no shortage of accolades. It is however missing some message. No moral tale told here, the focus is on the action. The rumbling crashes and exposions muffled out some of the dialogue to this 50 year-old viewer. I can imagine this will only be the beginning of a new "franchise." How fast and loud do things have to be nowdays? Where will they be in ten years? I shudder to think.

Well, at least it's the best Trek movie I've seen in a long time, and it stands up well against other sci-fi movies in general. Excellent casting, great screenplay and just the right amount of nods in the direction of the original series.

I am not what would be considered a Star Trek fan. In fact, I barely remember the details of the series. I was wondering if I would enjoy the movie at all, and only went after persistent encouragement from my friends. Boy, am I glad I saw this movie! This movie has enough action, campiness, and comedy to keep things light and moving, but it's laid over a thoughtful and emotionally compelling plot. Whether you're a fan of sci-fi, chick flicks, drama, or action, you will enjoy this movie.

... but excellent! I was a nine year old cub scout at my den leader's house the night the first episode of Star Trek came on TV in 1966. I loved it. I loved the original series, like Next Generation, wasn't crazy about Deep Space 9, casually watched Voyager and thought that Enterprise could have been much better. I liked most (not all) of the movies that came before todays Star Trek. I really liked the new movie, and was very OK with the changes made to the hsitory. I think the casting was excellent, the tone exciting and the look & feel was unmatched by anything else in the series. The groundwork has been laid for some exciting new features in the future.

Won't win points for character development, but every one of the men and women we thought we knew from the original series turns out to have some surprising history or amusing entree to the Star Ship Enterprise. You don't need to be a Trekkie to like this movie. (My friends and I are not.) BTW: we noticed that men and women in the audience liked the film equally.

Was never a ST fan and never saw even one of the old Shatner movies. Never watched the TV show either. This movie was good beacuse it took you back to the beginning of the saga and you didnt have to know anything about the previous plots. Fast moving, great special effects and several unexpected twists. About as good as a Spiderman or Batman flick.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. All the actors did a great job, especially Quinto(Spock). Good story and direction. Amazing visual effects. I like the direction they're going with this and I liked the slight changes they made to the main characters. Looking foreward to the next one.

Worth seeing - good action/adventure movie. However, if you are anyone who has at all followed Star Trek over the years, this movie did not live up to Star Trek's potential - Star Trek at its best is a message-oriented drama, not action/adventure series, with an optimistic view of our future. Also, why throw out the entire history from decades of Star Trek? It would have cost nothing to be honest to Roddenberry's vision. The time travel plot device is getting old and cheap. Still, was a fun movie to watch. Most of the actors did a great job portraying the young Enterprise crew.

I loved this movie from start to finish. Great character development of Kirk, Spock, Bones, Sulu, Checkov, Uhura and Scotty. Leonard Nimoy was AWESOME! I loved seeing all the awesome Star Trek one liners worked in: "Live long and prosper", "I have, and always will be your friend", etc. And referring to the future Kirk: "James T. Kirk was a great man.....that was another life"!!!! Great movie......Go see it!
