this movie was a fun and explosive movie. the violence was over the top, so you felt less like it was reality, but more like a bugs bunny cartoon. no to say that it was cartoonish, but it was more of a comic book movie with real people that a movie about reality in a comic book world
First if you expect waterboy or little nicki stay home, those are anti-matter equivalent of this movie.
This is a movie that i loved, but there is a big question as to whether its a comedy or not. Yes it has laughs and lots of them, but its more like a drama with questions about life and lifes choices than anything else. Its an insiders tale of a comic, and like any other life it has its ups and downs, its stresses and sacrifices. There are no true villains or heroes but people who can be selfish or generous, but just people in the end. Its obvious that Apatow and crew made this a personal journey, that alone should make you have respect for what they are trying to say.
this is a rare find. its the convergence of actually funny script, with like able and quirky characters. great direction combines with great story and we get a real adult comedy. unfortunately now we'll see Hollywood muck it up with sub par copies, not realizing that the elements that made it good were less about rated R but about the camaraderie and and the story of the characters.
This isn't a political war movie, its not aboutanti or pro feelings. That kind of message is left up to the viewer, but you do see the anguish in some soldiers. this movie is more about the tense and dangerous job some men have in war. Their fear, excitement, hatred for and love of what they do. This is more like a dramatic documentary than a Hollywood movie, and that's what makes it great.
The real point to any con movie is the con itself, the web it weaves and the story it tells. The final moments, the reveal can be fun too, but its the entirety of it all thats really fun. How well you can get immersed in the tale, is how wall the con worked, both for the mark in the con and the audience that came along.
too bad this was a script that was obviously a product of the writers strike. it feels like a rough draft that was fated to not work. The orginal movies always touted a future world with great ideas, this one not so much.
