A great two hours

Vintage Spielberg, with an edge. Entertaining and enjoyable. Just a bit anti-climatic at the end.

Different from what I expected...

... but excellent! I was a nine year old cub scout at my den leader's house the night the first episode of Star Trek came on TV in 1966. I loved it. I loved the original series, like Next Generation, wasn't crazy about Deep Space 9, casually watched Voyager and thought that Enterprise could have been much better. I liked most (not all) of the movies that came before todays Star Trek. I really liked the new movie, and was very OK with the changes made to the hsitory. I think the casting was excellent, the tone exciting and the look & feel was unmatched by anything else in the series. The groundwork has been laid for some exciting new features in the future.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
