I've been a long tine fan of Star Trek, especially classic Trek. And I was quite satisfied. Great timing, fantastic editing, fast paced, just great. The plot did get a little muddy towards the end, but I was having too much fun to care. Go see it twice.

Excellent casting for major characters people remember from the series. Folks familiar with the series will enjoy seeing the roots of those characters while people who aren't familiar (kids) can see a good action movie. Time travel plot gets a little confusing (and reminds me of Lost) but it's a great summer action flick.

This movie was everything I expected and more . Great story line , great effects and the characters were perfect . If there was one thing I had to say I didnt like it was the Spock coming back from the future thing but other than that it was a movie I will buy for sure .

I'm old school and loved all of the Star Treks, so I was skeptical...but this cast rocks! They have the characters down pat. It's fresh and new- but familiar. And of course the adventure is pure Star Trek with modern movie magic at it's best. Don't wait for the video. You have to see this on the big screen!!

Prior to walking into the movie theater, I was forewarned by a friend that this was not my typical Star Trek movie. He was right.
From the beginning until the end, the movie was filled with non-stop action. The characters also showed abundance of emotions and flaws, especially Spock(resisting my urge to spoil the movie:) The special effects looked very believable unlike those simple 3-color buttons you used to see from the old Star Trek shows.
All in all, I had a great time watching this movie and I guess because going in my expectation was not all that high, this movie made it all better.

Excellent movie with a lot of nail biting, seat of your pants action. JJ Abrams added a new twist to the Star Trek saga by adding an almost comic hero flavor to it, something that even the most devout Trekkies or Trekkers are sure to appreciate.

Being a 'Trekkie' myself, it makes me optimistic about the future of Star Trek. The casting company more than earned their money on this movie. Every character had an introduction worthy of being passed the traditional torch and I left the theater anxious to see the next movie.

I am a a comic book and star trek fan alike, and have been excited over the past few years as the film industry finally started doing right by the likes of iron man and other inked out heroes. Star Trek is like the collective "end of movie, can't help but smile excitement" of all of those movies wrapped into one package. My girlfriend liked it because it has the best visuals of any movie to date, but I can't hold it against her for not sharing that extra bit of excitement when you see McCoy, Scotty, and the likes appear onscreen. Bottom Line: Everyone will enjoy the movie, anyone who proclaims themselves a fan will see it again, and again...

This movie was amazing. Story line was great and the writters/producers had every angle covered. This movie was action packed. I have now seen it 3 times. And looking forward to seeing it in Imax. I am taking my wife because even though she might not be a star trek fan this is a movie she will enjoy. You do not have to be a star trek fan or even know what the 47 year old histroy is to enjoy this movie. This is the only movie I have gone to see a second time just because it was that good. There have been other movies but that was becuase I brought some one else to see it. This movie I found other people to go with who never watched star trek and enjoyed.

Where this movie really impressed me is with the character portrayal and interactions of the the crew - especially Kirk and Bones!!! Spock, Chekov, Scott, Uhura and Sulu were great too, but Kirk and Bones really captured their essence. All in all I felt the movie brought all original Star Trek TV episodes up to a new level as the new insight into the characters adds so much depth. I think the casting and direction did great justice to the legacy.

Thanks to Gizmodo, I knew this was going to be awesome ahead of time, but it definitely did NOT disappoint.
I never considered myself a Trekkie, and I knew only the bare minimum about the original franchise, but I had no trouble following and really getting into the character development. All the actors worked really well together (particularly Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto). There was a lot more comic relief than I was expecting as well.
I'm really hoping there's a sequel! I'll be there!

First and foremost, it's a blockbuster in every sense of the word. There's explosions galore, heart-pounding danger, even sword fights. It's sexy, fast-paced, violent fun for most of the whole family. The plot? It's a compromise. Shoehorning in all the eye candy means dumbing things down a bit. They pulled the alternate timeline, anything goes routine and did it well. This is a blockbuster for the masses. I'm thankful the franchise has been revived. I'm hoping for lots of extra scenes on the DVD.

Saw this movie with three different groups of friends three different times this weekend, and each time the movie gets better and better. Things are fast paced and each viewing lets me see things I didn't catch the first time. It's pretty amazing that I haven't gotten tired of it, but I did really enjoy it. I would highly recommend this movie to any movie goer, even if you may not end up watching it multiple times.

This movie surprised me. The actors, the way it was filmed, the plot. All of it left me with a smile on my face and a happy heart.
This is not the old star trek. This is a whole new take on a world from long ago.
Both Trekkies and non will enjoy this film. And like what many people are saying when comparing the old rivalry between the trek and the wars.
George Lucas owes people an apology for his Prequels. Where JJ Abrahms just leaves you with the want for more.

Really liked this, but not sure it lives up to the hype of being this summer's "Iron Man." The film was not without some flaws (ex: very flat use of Winona Ryder-as-Spock's-mom and Uhura. But for the most part, the new cast is excellent--esp Kirk, Scotty, Bones--and IMHO the film belongs to the new Spock. For this non-Trekkie, die-hard LOST fan, I definitely enjoyed it. I only wish they could've found a way to work in Shatner, God bless him.

I have never even watched any of the old Star Trek stuff so I went into this with no idea of what to expect.
With that said, this was an awesome movie to me and has made me want to rent everything I have missed.
I really didn't think that some of the actors would be able to pull off the characters they were playing but they did so flawlessly.
The story was well thought and if you continue to pay attention most everything is explained or makes sense.

This movie far exceeded my expectations and I thought it would be great anyway. The action, the character driven story lines are what Star Trek is about. Even the score and the special effects were incredible. I believe there will be some Oscar Noms.

I am a long time Star Trek Fan. I expected this to be another lame action movie pretending to be Star Trek. However, since it was a Star Trek movie I had to go see it. I was pleasantly surprised. The writer's method of dealing with a story line that violated "Star Trek canon" was inventive and believable if you did not think about it too much. I liked the characters and the action was non stop. It was not perfect, but it left me looking forward to the next Star Trek movie that I'm sure will be coming.
