From the very beginning this movie had me captivated. The actors remained true to the characters, even some of their little tics, while not just mimicing or imitating. To my surprise I was able to immediately accept every new actor in the roles created when I was in pre-school, and this says a lot since the original actors were/are great. A movie with this much action and this many sub-plots usually has a lot of big holes or gets lost in the remake. I don't know how they did it, but I was able to keep up with all the stories even with all of the sci-fi words and mumbo-jumbo. I will pay to see this movie again and will being going through withdrawl until the next installment

All I can really say after leaving the theater is
WOW! The first five minutes grabbed a hold of me... moved me... and it never let go!!! The special effects were fantastic!. The acting was good and the cast was done perfectly (sans Checkov and Sulu). Plot, sub-plot, twists and turns set againts the epic back drop of a galaxy changed forever? They were all there in force, and in abundance. I went into this movie with A LOT of expectations and I was sure I was setting myself up for a dissappointment. JJ + Star Trek? I had my doubts... and they were wrong! This IS a "MUST SEE" movie. I wont say more. GO SEE IT NOW!!! You will NOT be dissappointed.

I've seen all of the Star Trek movies, which range pretty much from the sublime to the ridiculous (not necessarily in that order). This one is truly sublime. The plot stretches the imagination a bit, but they took the time to try and make it all make sense. There's plenty of action and eye candy for the young and unitiated, plenty of references back to the original series for us die hard fans, and seeing Leonard Nimoy is always a pleasure. From the grown-ups to the 10 year old, we all loved it. We may even go see it again, this time in IMAX.

This movie was action packed- it certainly did not feel like it was 2 hours long- and it left us wanting MORE!
Abrams and company did a great job with the casting. It tied in a lot from the original Star Trek- it showcased the begining of the friendship between Kirk and Spock- and those old hilarious little snippets between Bones and Spock. Great re-tool for new fans while keeping all of the old fans happy. I am hoping that they give us another movie soon.
Get out there and see it!

For a movie based on an old cult classic, Star Trek really held it's own. Utilizing a lot of the old, near comic, lines and a strong cast, it managed to stay true to what Star Trek always has been without simply recycling storylines that were already written ten years ago.

It was so much fun seeing this movie with other Star Trek Fans.  There was much applauding and whistling when the characters showed up on the screen and did something in total character.  This film is so well done.  It was fantastic.  We want to go see it again!!  As people were leaving the theater they were saying "Fantastic",  "I can't wait to see it again", "That was sooo great!!"  Words can't describe how much fun it was to see our favorite characters at the beginning of their careers in Star Fleet.  I am definetly recommending this movie to friends and family.  Love it, Love it, Love it!!

This film is another great addition to the Star Trek universe. I thought that using the altered time work pretty good to account for most of the differences between the story are told here and the original. I'd recommend it to any Trek lover and hope that it leads to a new series either on television on in the theater.

In particular, I find myself fondest of Karl Urban's portrayal of Leonard McCoy. He was spot on, and I was damned impressed. Quinto protrayed an excellent Spock, and as much a I was deadset against Pine portraying Kirk, I have to admit he did do a fine job as well. As a female trekkie whose first crush ever was on Leonard Nimoy as Spock (true story...I loved him SO much when I was a little girl), I was thrilled not only to see Nimoy in the movie, but came close to getting choked up at the end when Nimoy reads Roddenberry's (close to) original opening. An impressive reimagining of my favorite franchise. I think Gene Roddenberry would be impressed and honored.

This movie got is mostly all right. The movie tied so many of the original stories and elements together. Even when Captain Pike ends up in a wheelchair, that goes back to one of the original episodes. If there is one thing I did not like was the court scene where Kirk is defending his chaging of the war similation program. I felt it did not do him justice. Otherwise the movie was phenomenal!!

I do not believe a better prequel could have been made. The movie was exciting, extremely well cast and made great use of modern technology. The background development of Kirk and Spock characters was excellent. For an old Star Trek fan it was incredible. At the same time, for a novice, it should have been a great introduction to a promising new series. Like about everyone whose comments I've read or heard, I say "lock up the cast, secure Abrams for the next several episodes and sit back and enjoy!"

Casting was great. Couldn't have asked for better. Charactization was great too. Dr. McCoy
s may have been my favorite. The alternate time thing really frees this film from any baggage to go boldly on in any direction it wants. And the new romance was intriging. They could have fun with that. LOVED this one. Great Job Abrams!

I absolutely loved this movie! It had plenty of action, stayed true to the Star Trek that we know and love and provided a nice twist to keep us interested and begging for more. I thought the casting was great too. As each of the original Star Trek characters appeared in the film I got more and more excited. This is a must see.

As a devoted sci-fi head, I always realized that there was an element to the genre that alienated the mainstream. Thankfully, the New Star trek reaches out a olive branch to modern audiences who don't understand the difference between a teleporter and a teleprompter. There were many things I enjoyed--primarily Spock’s ability to acknowledge his human, emotional side. My own daughter is mixed and I would hope she would embrace both sides of her heritage. Purist have all deplored such changes, even going so far as to critique the occasional lens flare. Gimme a break! Star Trek was never Shakespeare--it was a sci fi TV show and Abrams does the franchise justice by giving it a brand new spit shine!

Great, great thrill-ride of a movie! There's nothing geeky about it--this is a huge, in-your-face summer action movie. But at the same time, it honors everything about Star Trek that has come before. I went because I like sci fi flicks, I was curious, and, well... the stars are hot! But I was pleasantly surprised that the story was well written, the characters were given time to develop, the special effects were very good, and although there were a few "it's scifi, so we can substitue absurd technologies for disconnects in the story anytime we need to" and there were some unecessary tension builders, overall the movie was very well constructed. I'm very critical, and rarely give high ratings to movies, but this one makes it into the 8 out of 10 category

This was excellent! I have seen every Star Trek many, many times (including the TV series). I was uncertain if I'd like this one since the original cast is not in it. HOWEVER, this was EXCELLENTLY cast, you really feel these guys were the younger versions of the original cast, great action, well filmed, edited, acted, interesting story line and a few surprises! Enjoy!

Star Trek is one of those movies that keeps you highly entertained from beginning to end and doesn't make you think or question things too much, which is great if you want to forget about all the troubles of the world for a while. I used to faithfully watch The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager, but I wouldn't consider myself a Trekkie. Yet I really enjoyed this movie!

My family really enjoyed this movie, my 2 13 and 15 y/o girls did need to clarify a couple of points during the movie b/c they really haven't seen the original series. Actors did a great job recreating the characters. Only complaint more Scotty and Bones, best comic relief!

Very rarely in this day and age does a movie deliver what it promises, and this movie is a rare example of this. I have loved the original series and some of the six feature films to have come from it. This movie delivers everything it promises while staying true to the tradition of the original where anything can happen.
It becomes apparent early on that the people responsible for this film are die hard fans of the original series, and make it for that same audience. This movie is total non-stop action, and even if you're not a "Star Trek" fan, you'll love this film.
Every actor is on-point with their performance, culminating in the movie to jump start the summer experience.

This iteration of Star Trek is a very fresh reboot if that's what you want to call it. It takes the classic Trek experience and puts it into a brand new bowl. Think Star Trek - what if...and you have the premise of the movie. It's a great film mixing elements of action, sci-fi, and Trek content while adding a fresh perspective on the entire franchise. Bottom line: you could never have seen a Star Trek TV show or movie and appreciate this classic reboot of this iconic series.
