Twenty minutes into watching this movie I turned to my husband and said, "we're gonna watch this again tomorrow, right?" it was awesome!
Okay, so there are some plot holes the size of the Bajoran wormhole, but that is secondary to the great cast, pacing, and emotional weight of this truly excellent film. I cannot wait to see where this fresh beginning leads (hopefully to a new tv series as well as future movies).
Do not hesitate. Just go now and have a great, great time!

I was not happy with the story line at first, but once I got into the groove that this was an alternate timeline, I really had a great time watching the movie. The actors chosen to play the younger versions of the original characters fit perfectly. Seeing what could happen, was the best.

The alternate-reality spin on the original Star Trek plot was an amazing idea. It gives the owners of the franchise the option to start over from scratch, with new story lines and a new history for the characters. It also was a great way to explain the inconsistencies with original.

I've been waiting with baited breath the last several years for the next Trek. I've been left in limbo since First Contact. (Insurrection and Nemesis were OK, but I was left wanting more.) I was nervous when they were talking about a "prequel" or "reboot" -- how would that affect all that has gone on in the Trek universe? I must say Abrams and the writers (as well as the cast, of course) pulled it off at maximum warp! I loved the developing relationship between Kirk and Spock. The interpretations of Scotty and McCoy did honor to the late actors who portrayed them. It had enough "winks" to the keep faithful Trekkers entertained, while keeping Trek novices interested. I'll be seeing it in IMAX next!

This was an awesome movie from start to finish. I went to the movie expecting to see something say like First Contact.
But this movie was way better than that, I especially loved the fact that Nimoy got to be part of it and there is quite the touching seen between him and the new Kirk.
I also think they did an awesome job finding actors who could be themselves but also remind us of the old Enterprise Crew!!
A definite recomend to Trekkies and non Trekkies alike.

Good, but not great movie. A little too long and bringing Spock from the future didn't add much to the movie. Also, killing his mother in this movie does not set well for long-time fans who saw her many times inthe original series. The plot was a little convoluted and certainly not up to the other Star Trek movies. I do like the young actors that played Kirk and Spock. Would not see twice or buy the movie when released.

The "Star Trek" movie has an interesting story line (actually several), is full of laughs and is an action-packed thrill a minute. There is not one slow second. The characters are VERY well-developed and unbelievably true to the originals. I left the theater wishing that my late father (who was a MAJOR Trekkie) could have seen it. He would have loved it!

I (non-Trekkie) went to see this movie with my husband (confessed geek). I was worried that I would a) be lost due to ignorance of the Star Trek lore, and b) be bored due to non-interest in the plot. I was pleasantly surprised on both counts. There was enough humor, romance, and they laid out the plot quite well. Great choice of actors for the various parts. All in all, a wonderful movie!

This new Star Trek movie is witty, clever and I love the humor. The casting is top rate and I thought they did a great job developing the roles into what we grew up with on TV and the later Star Trek movies by enhancing the essence of their defining characteristics. I did miss Captain Kirk's famous line "engage" at the end of the movie, though.

They did such a good job with this movie! They brought in a lot of the same mannerisms as the future/past Star Trek characters!!! And the graphics!! Oh man!!! All I have to say is, if you like action, suspense.. cool graphics.. JJ Abrams.. Star Trek... you should go see this movie!!

As time passes, the Star Trek movies bring in newer technology and newer, better special effects. The plots all are about the same, ie., go after an alien or renegade spacecraft before it can destroy earth or the universe. This one is the newest and the technology and effects are breath-taking. I've been a Star Trek fan for over 40 years and I can honestly say this one is probably the best! But, in their time, that was probably said about the others as they came out.

I was delighted with how the actors grew into these famous roles, yet added their own imprint.
I was impressed with Zachary Quinto. I knew he would be the perfect actor to portray Spock.
By the end of the movie, I liked the new Capt. Kirk and Dr. McCoy and very much liked the new Chekhov (sp?), who did a great job of mangling English.
The villain borrows a bit of dark style and feel from the shadows of Babylon 5 and that is cool. It fits well.
I finally came to accept the alternate reality explanation, although I am secretly hoping they all go back in time and pull off a great rescue of Vulcan.
The visual effects were often first rate. I liked the new "beam me up" visuals.
I am ready for the DVD and the next movie.

I do not usually love, love, love remakes but in this case I absolutely do. The way the writer created the ability to do future movies is brilliant! Change the future, change the future movies. What once happened can not and what will happen in the "future" of Star Trek will not only be acceptable but realistic. The choice of actors is not only wonderful but once again brilliant. Spok, Jim, McCoy, it does not matter who you choose, the actor portraying them today is as good as yesterday if not better

This was a great movie. It had action, suspense, special effects, great dialogue, wonderful acting and the best thing of all it revitalized a dying Star Trek. It was by far one of the best movies I've seen in the last year. I can't wait to see it again. I hope that JJ Abrams decides to direct the next movie in this series. I believe that this will be the best movie I see all summer! I loved Trek from the beginning and had my doubts about this movie. But, I was happily surprised by everything it had to offer. Leaps and bounds better than any other Trek movie ever made. Go see it....you won't be disappointed.

I was a skeptic; I figured we were in for another "reimagining" like we got with Battlestar Galactica. However, I was completely won over by the cast, the writing, the action, and the humor. I was amazed how faithful they could be to the endearing characteristics of the original but still branch off in a new direction.
** MILD SPOILER ** Ummm, Kirk did not win ANY of the fist-fights he was in, I do hope they'll correct that in future installments.

Well done reboot of the series with superbly talented folks on both sides of the camera. Fans of the original series (who actually saw the original shows when they first aired), (yea - I'm that old) may be a bit disappointed with the "re-boot," but I think everything considered, they have done an excellent job. I look forward to the next one.

I wasn't expecting this Trek movie to come even close to my all time favorite The Wrath of Khan, but this one is now my number one. I really enjoyed how all of the original characters were included in this prequel, even Captain Pike. It was also great to see Leonard Nimoy as Spock again. Now we know how Bones got his nickname :-D Enjoyable story line, cool special effects and non-stop action.

What a great rollercoater ride. Many back stories about the main characters were filled in very nicely. Imaginative script and a great job by actors who were trying to live up to "legends." I will see this movie again and I could not wait till it came out. Kudos to the cast and Director J.J. Abrams.

Loved it! I'm old enough to remember the original series. The casting was very well done. The character nuances were well studied and well delivered. It was much better than I was expecting. I have a few qualms about the uncorrected time-line shift . We'll see where the writers take it from here.

This trek was by far the best movie of the decade! I grew up with the original series and this movie was captivating from start to finish and the character building was absolutely perfect in development of the storyline. This one will be hard to top, no question about it. I called home to tell mother about it! I would have gladly paid $40 to see this one and will buy it in blu-ray when it comes out too!

After growing up on Star Trek on television, I wasn't sure if I would enjoy the movie. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it! The casting was superb and it was a joy to see various character "catch phrases" from the tv show. The laughs were wonderful, too. Do yourself a favor and go see this movie.

This was a great combination of ole' skool meets a new cast. Wonderfully casted, NOT A CHEAP IMITATION. Character of "Bones" is the best of all the actors. He had the timing and pace to a tee along with well scripted paranoia that only doc mcCoy can bring.
I don't usually like the time travel bits in flick but this was ignorable, Everything from the Vulcan neck pitch to mind melding is in this flick.

I thought this was a great movie. It sets the tone for someone who knows nothing about star trek. I expected nothing less and got even more.
