A great, inspiring movie more in the old Disney style. The cinematography was great and Diane Lane remains one of my favorites. It was great to see a movie with my husband and 14-year-old son that we all enjoyed and wasn't full of vulgarity and unnecessary bathroom humor. We all enjoyed it very much.

I went in a little unsure, I knew the story (I thought) so I wondered...would I enjoy it? The story was engrossing, the acting was great and I learned there was more to the story. At the end the audience clapped!

Loved the wholesomeness. It would be nice to turn the clock back to that time period. It would really be nice to see more movies like this, but I'm sure the liberal critics will make sure that never happens.

Another Disney hit - well acted, well written and a great "suspense" movie. Even though you know the ending you are on the edge of your seat the second half of the movie. I laughed, cried and walk out of the theater feeling like I got my moneys worth of entertainment. A great feel good story - GO SEE IT!!!

I took my 10 year old daughter to see this and it was a wonderful experience. Family friendly, wonderful wonderful up close shots of horseracing and the best thing is that it had suspense although you know how it's going to end. having the cameo appearance was a good educational oppy for my daughter as well. i highly recommend it!

This is a wonderful movie, and a perfect one for grandparents and grandchildren. It is a tribute to race horses and to a very strong and determined heroine. It was a nice touch that the actual people were shown at the end, and viewers were told what became of them, More than that, the actual heroine was in one of the final scenes of the film - the finish of the Belmont race. The only odd thing was the attempt of the filmmakers to make fabulously wealthy people seem to be rather ordinary - going to coffee shops all the time while at the same time, spending enormous sums of money to breed and race horses. It is after all still the "sport of kings", but that in no way makes the film less enjoyable as a modern tale of determination and sound judgement.

My husband and I have waited for a year to see Secretariat and could hardly contain our excitment as we drove to the theatre. We own a grandson of Secretariat, his name is Ruction but we call him Rocky. This movie is everything and more than we thought it would be. We both want to see the movie again and buy the DVD! This is a great movie for the entire family! My hope is that the movie Secretariat will show how amazing America's beloved horses are and will move more people to help stop the export of our beloved horses to Mexico and Canada for slaughter!! The cinemotography was excellent and the emotions we felt throughout the movie and as Secretariat rounded the corner for the finish line 31 lengths in front of the field are feelings we will not soon forget! GO SEE THE MOVIE and REMEMBER - AS PENNY CHENERY SAID - "I AM HIS VOICE" - WE ARE THE VOICES OF AMERICA'S HORSES - HELP SAVE THEM!

A movie for the whole family to enjoy, no sex, profanities or violence. Totally a feel good movie even though it does not have the same "on the edge of your seat" suspense as "Seabiscuit". They also did a good job in capturing the 70's feel. One thing though, nothing really, just asking...the eldest daughter of Penny Tweedy said "cool"...do they really use that word during the 70's? I thought they used to say "groovy" during that time. Anyway, if you are in the mood to watch a movie that would leave you smiling after you watch it , then do see this one.

I worked at Belmont for 26 years and for Lucien Lauren when he first got Secretariat AT BELMONT. I think Disney took far too many liberties with this movie about the greatest Race horse in my lifetime. And, what about his stablemate, Riva Ridge, who was said to be Penny's favorite and whom she won the Derby with in 1972. And with Ron Turcotte up! So, A) she did not just meet Ron T. , B) Secretariat was trained at Belmont, Not on the farm, C) Angle Light was also trained by Lucien Lauren, was Secretariats stablemate also and He won the 1973 Wood Memorial and D) They put a placard on the outside rail of Keeneland and it said "Belmont Park ". Well, first of all, Belmont does Not have stone pillars trackside nor farmland and barns across from the grandstand! Oh, but Keeneland does. I could go on, but why bother. Disney should be ashamed for cheaping out on this one and I hope someone comes out with a real story about this horse. And, not to mention "oh happy day"? WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? They couldn't even find a great song for a magnificient horse.......
No, I do not recommend this movie.

What an inspirational story! The horse is the star in and of himself--however, Diane Lane was fantastic in her portrayal of Penny Chenery Tweedy. She was determined to save her family's farm and she did. She is an example and a wonderful role model for women and children of all ages.

Remember Seabiscuit? Sure, Secretariat was a better horse, but the idea is the same. However, the scrren play is solid, great acting by Diane Lane and John Malkovich, and Glenn Scott for a little while plays the aging patriarch quite well.

Of course this is a wonderful feel-good movie, especially for those who like happy families and winners. The scenery and acting are wonderful, albeit the leading lady is a little predictable. It's not the movie's fault, but there isn't that much real tension, no underdog, no long shot or hope against hope, like in Seabiscuit. It's winner all the way. If the real Penny Tweet was as nice as the character, she was a smart, perfect angel.

Refreshing change to typical genre! Also great that it is based on a true story -- he truly was the super horse. Even sports enthusiasts (and non-horsey folks) will appreciate the thrill of the racing even if you knew how it would end up! Great for all ages and worth the two hours! I took my whole riding academy for a night out and everyone loved it!

I am SO glad we did not pay attention to critical reviews of this movie! It just goes to show you; judge for yourself not on the words of others. My husband and I saw this by "default", it was the only movie we could fit in Saturday night after my work schedule. I anticipated a nice quiet nap, having read some pretty mediocre reviews. This was SUCH a great movie! The style of the movie was spot-on for the early 70's, the movie always moved at a brisk enough pace to keep me entertained and awake, and the race scenes had me sitting up and straining towards the screen, as though I could touch the horse. Even though we all know the results of the Triple Crown, the actors were so good in the scenes that you could feel their anticipation and stress. GO SEE IT!!!!!

This is a great movie. Even though you know how the racing ends, you find yourself sitting on the edge of your seat once the race begins screaming, "Go, Secretariat. Go!" The stakes are so high for Secretariat's owner - losing her beloved horse, her father's farm, the respect of her family, the respect of women in general - that during the race your heart is pounding as fast as Secretariat's. The audience burst into applause at the end of the movie. A wonderful movie. Don't miss it!

... the sight of a running horse is a beautiful thing and this movie brings it on and more. Secretariat is a feel good movie, gorgeous to look at.

If you are the mother of a daughter, or you are a daughter, you need to see this movie, even if you aren't a horse person!
