My husband and I were so touched by this movie!! It is the best, most well done movie we have seen in years!!! When we were walking out of the theatre my husband turned to me and said "there was not ONE SWEAR WORD in the entire movie". Bravo to Disney for producing something WONDERFUL! It was inspiring, moving and challenging all at the same time and we are recommending it to everyone we talk to!! Well worth seeing!!

I took my four kids, two are 8, two are 6. Only one of the kids didn't totally love this movie. The other three stayed quiet and interested during the entire movie! I thought it was a fantastic movie and had a great mix of humor and history. The acting was great-especially by the horse. You couldn't help but think he was another actor in the movie. I can't wait for this to come out on cable so we can watch it again.

Gorgeous horses, especially the one playing the part of Secretariat, a fully-fleshed-out story behind the sports headlines as "Big Red" (the champion's original name) moves toward his place in sports history. Diane Lane and John Malkovich were subtle, except during those last big races of course, as they talked about, and to, this almost magical horse. I'm old enough to remember these events as they were happening, and my family was glued to our TV back then as Secretariat did what most of the thoroughbred-racing "experts" said couldn't be done. Wonderful cinematography and sound, even during the races; made you feel as if you were riding the horse as he raced around the tracks each time. The supporting cast members could have been cariactures, but were also unusually-deep. I wish I could remember the name of the actor playing the black groom (caretaker) for Secretariat, because he did such a fine job. I didn't notice for a while that he also played the cook at Merlotte's in the HBO series "True Blood." His role couldn't be more different in "Secretariat," yet he did a fantastic job playing a whole person, not a stereotype, in the still-segregated American south where most of this film takes place. Sure to win at least some Oscar nominations.

I have seen this movie once, and me and my my mom absolutely loved it. I am about to go see it again with another friend who hasn't seen it. I own a horse, and I think the family perspective of this vs. the horse perspective is very real. I love this movie!

What a great movie...no violence, lots of family interaction, somewhat of a tear jerker, great movie for the whole family to see. Since I worked in the horse racing business in the 70's, I could so relate to this movie and it took me back to the "good ole days". Okay, yes, I love horses (though I don't ride anymore). But Secretariat is a top-notch movie beyond the horse world, and I recommend it for practically everyone (it may be a tad bit long for the youngest PG goers). Secretariat is a great, fun movie because its focus is on the fundamentals of storytelling. It's about relationships, loyalty, taking risks and family ties that bind, restrict and support. It's about believing in yourself and believing in others. Financial, marital and racial tensions, as well as a mother's/wife's struggle to be all things to everyone she loves, create some of the nuanced layers that add interest, but they're not belabored for great length or depth -- the main focus is elsewhere. Admittedly, the movie feels a tad shallow in parts, and there's one or two brief "hokey" moments, since it's quite a challenge to let the horse convey its thoughts and feelings. Diane Lane is fantastic, as always, and John Malkovich is delightful without being too "John Malkovich-y." Ultimately, what was best about Secretariat was what makes so many stories for the ages: the underdogs and misfits push through adversity and even have their opponents' grudging respect after defeat.
Even though you know how some of the races will end, you'll find you're still on the edge of your seat, hoping "your team" wins. It's an uplifting way to spend two hours.

This movie fits between those that are excellent and those only good enough to see on cable. It is a very good story despite not having aliens, space ships, or bullets and bombs! Even worth a tear or two. Nice story. Interesting to get a little intro into horse racing and learn about a beautiful animal; and once in a life-time athlete in his own right. (I actually had a nephew who was a trotter driver but he was as big as the glue- horses he drove. These race horses are beautiful athletes).

This is a movie that you know the outcome but still keeps you on the edge of your seat. Diane Lane does a magnificent job and as always John Malkovich is awesome. Highly recommend to any fan of horse racing and a family looking for a good family movie.

I am a 73 year old man who is not easily moved by emotion anymore, however this movie had me in touch with all of my emotions. Anger, sadness (tearfully at times), joy, suspense were all present during the scenes of this film. Would I recommend it to others? Indeed, I would! If I can, I would like to view it again. I truly believe it is one of the best movies I have seen in the last few years. Bring on more like it.

Diane Lane & John Malkovich were great and even though you know how it ends, they do a great job telling the back story of Secretariat and his owner.
