Put down the movie reviews that panned this movie and get yourself to the theater quickly and see this movie. It has so many messages and is one of those feel good movies that we all crave and want to see. Diane Lane is wonderful as Penney Tweaty. She is a woman who is determined and committed to see her dream through to its conclusion, whatever it may be and against all odds. Her father was a very important person in her life and instilled those values into her and you see it over and over again during the movie. Take your kids, or your grandkids. This movie is a keeper.
Knight and Day was a good action movie. It kept your interest throughout. Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz were believable and had good chemistry. Actually, I'd even like to see a sequel. It was entertaining enough. If you go in expecting great action and some profound message, you'll be disappointed, but if you want action, entertainment and a few laughs, then this is your movie.
If this movie had been set anyplace else, it would have gone straight to DVD. Very predictable, almost boring. The scenery was magnificent and stole the show. I couldn't wait to see where they would look for Lorenzo next, just to see the landscape. Vanessa Redgrave was very good, as expected. The rest of the cast was just plain eclipsed by Italy. Did it make me want to see it again, absolutely not, but it did make me want to board the first Al Italia flight to Italy.
Many things bothered me about this movie. There had to be a fair number in the audience who had experienced this exact situation (losing a job) at one time or another. Why would anyone want to relive that on the big screen.George Clooney played his part very well, as did Twilight star, Anna Kendrick. But there was no resolution at the end of the movie, they didn't learn anything from their jobs about the fragility of life and the need to build something real outside of work. Why did they have to make Clooney's love interest be a lying, cheating, no good woman? She validated every wrong idea that Clooney had about relationships. All in all, this movie was a disappointment.
When, not if, you see this movie, only see it in 3-D. Why would you see it any other way. The 3-D effects made you feel so much more a part of the movie. The scenery was phenomenal. So beautiful. You wanted to reach out and touch it. The storyline was interesting and kept your interest for the full 2 1/2 hours. What is the most amazing part of this movie is that most of it is computer generated and it became so easy to forget that the characters in the movie were not real. Go see it and then see it again.
This was by far the best in the Harry Potter series. The actors truly brought the characters to life. We could feel Hermione's heartbreak when Won Won was joined at the hip with Lavender Brown. Ron was hilarious with his one liners and of course, Harry had clearly come to accept his fate as the chosen one. Yes there were one or two things in the movie that didn't happen in the book. So what!!! It was thrilling, entertaining and just plain fun. And isn't that what a movie is supposed to be? See it again and again.
This was a fun and entertaining movie. Sandra Bullock was terrific and such a nice change from other female leads in a romantic comedy. Her facial expressions often say more than her words and that alone can be hilarious. Ryan Reynolds was a great leading man. He definitely held his own against Ms. Bullock. But the real surprise was Betty White. What a spry, and charming woman. I hope she's around for another 90 years. Definitely see this movie with your daughter, mother, and husband. Yes men, you will like this move, if for no other reason that the scenery was absolutely breathtaking.
It is the rare movie that is worthy of seeing twice. Gran Torino is that movie. Clint Eastwood plays his role brilliantly. We feel the transformation of "Wally" from bigoted, biased, ignorant neighbor to a man who finally reaches a peace with himself and with his neighbors. His final act is selfless and extraordinary. This movie has so many layers it will not disappoint. If this is Eastwood's last movie, then it is a gift to all of us.
This was a cute chick movie but it makes a better cable movie than one that costs $15 for two people. Anne Hathaway is very endearing and Kate Hudson plays her part well. The plot gets bogged down at times and is very predictable. I saw it with my daughter, age 20 and we both agreed that we'd see it again, on cable. Given the nature of many movies that are out today, this was fun, with dashes of humor and a message that friendship trumps the Plaza any day of the week.
This movie was full of action, but the plot was weak and somewhat disjointed. If you had not seen Casino Royale, this movie would have been very difficult to follow as numerous references were made to CR along the way. That being said, the scenery was spectacular and action permeated the movie. Daniel Craig has earned his stripes as the New James Bond and I'm looking forward to seeing him again and again.
