Didn't know what to expect, really, and was very pleasantly surprised. Altho rated PG, this movie works for all ages! In fact, there are some wonderful quips that only us oldsters would likely catch. Exciting, clean(now- that IS rare!) and funny, this movie is definitely recommended! The Greek mythology actually follows the ancient texts and is not taken out of thin air. Quite remarkable in and of itself.
Be sure to stay after the initial final credits! Very interesting and involved story that was not easily guessed. I can always tell when I enjoy a movie thoroughly- no fidgeting and looking at my watch- the case with this one. Worth your time and money!
Sad to see this get such low reviews. I found it to be wonderful escapist fun. A grown up fairy tale that moved along quickly and was thoroughly enjoyable. I walked out of the theater wishing that more movies were this much fun.
The repartee between Wahlberg and Washington is FANTASTIC! This really makes the movie great fun to watch. Alas, the great dialogue and the movie are marred by the seeming ubiquitous PC nonsense in movies today. Evil beasts need to be working for the military and/or US government. The poor Mexicans have to trek through the hot, dry desert to illegally enter the US. So, while I would love to give this movie a 5, I can't because the PC nonsense grated on me. If you can get beyond it- the interaction between the leads is as good as it gets. So I do recommend with a caveat.
If nothing else, the movie was entertaining. Parts of the story were hard to follow, and some of the fight scenes likewise, but overall it was an enjoyable way to spend 130+ minutes. Recommended way to spend some time out of the heat!
Boy, those zombie actors sure had it good! Must be fun to stagger around in massive make-up and uttering all kinds of guttural moans! Best acting was done when Pitt and zombie looked each other in the face without bursting out laughing.
OK- the story is another take on zombies and how to combat them. Once again one has to suspend disbelief with big transports taking off from small aircraft carriers!( I know, one has to suspend disbelief in a zombie movie anyway!) I was unable to really "get into" this movie as I did some of the other zombie flics, but so be it. Not a horrible way to spend 2 hours of your lifetime.
This movie has some very funny moments, as well as some very violent ones. Overall, it was an enjoyable 2 1/2 hours, keeping in mind that there were any number of errors- playing a Sousa march at a time he would have been 15 years old, and having people sing "The Star Spangled Banner" quite a bit before this was actually done. Some of the action is also over the top, but it IS a movie, after all. Not recommended for younger children!
Pros well paced
Yes, I recommend this movie.

too political, too over the top and beyond the pale.
One gets sick and tired of Hollywood bashing anybody or anything to the right of Stalin. We should have known, what with Foxx telling us we need to "bow down before our savior, Barack Obama." Gyllenhaal probably feels she has to do penance for appearing in a movie supporting school choice.
With bad guys badly missing our heroes shooting at them with machine guns(!) and F-22s firing missiles within close proximity to the target(they fire BVR- Beyond Visual Range!) this movie fails in most aspects.
Sorry, I cannot recommend this 137 minute left wing diatribe.
Very funny, but very crude with rapid fire dialogue that has many LOL moments. The story was a bit over the top and unbelievable, and tried to also tug the heart strings. Worth seeing, but leave your pre-teens at home!( A woman brought three pre-teens to this- dunno why as the humor is not suited for, nor likely is understandable- to them.)
