From the first five minutes of this sprawling epic, I found myself absolutely hooked. There was little to no diaglogue, but the visual effects for themselves certainly stood alone. It was as if I myself were sleeping for five years before reaching the specticle that was Avatar. Nothing I've seen before could possibly compare, visually, or otherwise to this artistic masterpiece. The dialogue, albiet, was somewhat disappointing from time to time, but I never snickered or laughed out loud because it was so ridiculous. Typically, I'm one to ignore the hype created by critcs or the public about an uncoming movie, but I'm very glad I put my cynicism aside. It is going to be a movie that this film major will not soon forget.

Already saw it twice! Better the second time. Also 3D technology has come so far that my mom who is blind in one eye and can't see 3D movies, saw the whole thing as a perfectly clear 2D movie with her glasses.

If you like to play war games on the computer, this is the movie for you. You probably need a fetish for "fantasy" litterature to enjoy it fully. The computer generated 3D will give you a headache the first hour, but when you accept that you are only supposed to look at what is in focus the doble blurred vision gets less annoying. I give it two stars for the ambitious animation.

This is NO Star Wars...I was so disappointed in this film & it was Gosh Awful to sit in the Theater for almost 3 hours watching this (I woud have left but was w/friends & I didn't want to insist they leave too). This FILM reminds me of 2 things. 1. That our US Troops are Bullies, who don't care about anything except firing their weapons & runing all that is good. (which I don't believe our troops do at all).. and 2. If I can get away from believing they are our US Troops then I think of them as ...hum...The White mem attacking Native Americans...

This movie sets a new standard for all movies. Action, adventure, romance, drama, suspense, this movie had it all. I can’t remember when I sat and enjoyed all the special effects in 3D and wished it wouldn’t end. This is a must see and own someday movie. The effects are unmatched in movie making. You don't watch this movie you live it! Last night I went to Pandora and I can’t wait to go back! Not only did this movie have an excellent plot, but it set a new 3D standard for all movies to come. This film is definitely a must see on the big screen. it is both visually stunning - and the story is beautiful. It is a story of love, betrayal, greed, and vengeance. The main characters are well played, and the science fiction immersive and believable, The kids will enjoy the film - but you will need to do some quiet reading of sub-titles if you bring children under 8. I was siting in front of a family doing this very thing - and was not disturbed by it.

The visualizations in this movie were absolutely mind boggling. The 3D version was hit or miss depending on your preferences and where you sit. Sitting too close is not too kind on your eyes with the attempts to adjust focus. Also, the 3D is more for the 'feel like you are there' effect which is only true for half the movie. You really can tell when the 3D effect comes and goes. 3D or not, seating or not, this movie not only provides an experience in great storytelling, but also provides a subtle political undertone. The story and visualizations are so powerful that they really suck you in and makes you emotionally invested. This is most definitely a movie theater must see film.

The movie is far too long and tells a story that is utterly predictable right down to the nine lives of the villain. The underlying theme that the noble savage is somehow more worthy to exist than anyone from a western culture is an obnoxious cliche. There was also a palpable smack of the good of using violence in the fight against those who do not share the identical love of the earthmother. The movie was very violent indeed - far more violent than I would have thought appropriate for its PG13 rating. If you want to watch an eco-version of Dances with Wolves, this is your movie, otherwise you'll resent the three-hour abuse that this movie will perpetrate against you.

When watching the movie I was overcome with the feeling that I may be experiencing one of those rare films that may become an all time classic. Then I thought 'perhaps not' because the plot was as predictable as any I've ever seen. Also, the characters lacked comedic or sensual vitality. Despite a familiar story, (Dances with Wolves, A Man Called Horse, Aliens) the FX and beauty of the film makes it worth watching. The movie is a little long at 2 hrs. 40 min. i think this movie is finally going to really break the 3D thing through. i remember seeing this same technology at mgm studios at disneyworld in '91! finally, it's being put to use. they just need to redesign the glasses to be more comfortable. the movie was definitely cool. i can't believe they spent 500 bil on it though

The visual effects are superb especially in 3d. This time the extra charge is worth the money.Good story line and interesting characters with a sense of humor. I followed two ages 10-12 boys out of the theatre and they were talking 100 words a minute about the movie. Best picture maybe in that catagory. A true winner and yes I would go to it again.

Although this kind of story has been told before, James Cameron seamlessly blended a 3D animated world with live action SO well that never once was did I break from suspension of disbelief. I was in it from beginning to end and was simply blown away. FANTASTIC FILM! FYI, this is my first review so I was clearly motivated!

I was so looking forward to watching this and was mesmerized by the creation of spectacular aliens,creatures, planet, everything. My only complaint was how we (Americans and Military) were perceived in this movie. We were barbarians, murderers, conquerers and anything and everything you could think. What was James Cameron thinking? This is not what we do when we help other countries. It's an outrage to me and should be how we and especially the military was portrayed in this movie. We are the bad guys. Gimme a break!

Wow !!!!! What a movie,went to a late show in 3D. Never even thought of falling asleep to this one. A class act of a movie. Took my son to see this and was well worth it

The best movie ever. It may have been a long movie, but it kept me interested the complete time that I didnt even realize it had been 2 hrs and 40 mins. The 3D effects were great. Definately will buy this movie on dvd when it comes out. In fact may go see it again at the theatre.
