When watching the movie I was overcome with the feeling that I may be experiencing one of those rare films that may become an all time classic. Then I thought 'perhaps not' because the plot was as predictable as any I've ever seen. Also, the characters lacked comedic or sensual vitality. The sad parts were overwhelming to me and it was hard to recover from that. It still may become a classic!
I am a big Stones fan (I've seen them over 13 times, collect hundreds of bootlegs etc,) but over the years I had been sometimes disappointed with large, impersonal shows and clumsy guitar playing. Well, this movie is a vindication! It's a redemption of all that is great with the band! Even if you only like the band from the 1960s or 70's...go see this movie. The director gave the world a gift with this movie. Better yet, he gave the Stones themselves a gift with this move.
