We saw Avatar in 3D last night. There was a huge line (thankfully we preordered!), and everyone was wondering if the wait would be worth it. The movie was AMAZING. Beautiful, Thrilling, Emotional, Action-Packed. It was the most visually stunning picture that I have ever seen, and it is one that you HAVE TO SEE on the grand scale of a movie theater. I Recommend 3D because all the colors and effects are even more breathtaking! 5 STARS!

This is to me the best movie I have ever seen and I see/watch a lot of movies. Great story line, outstanding special effects, nice love story! I highly recommend that you see Avatar in 3D! My wife does not like science fiction stories nor does she like movies about aliens but she loved this movie.

Story line was to drawn out. Movie could have been half as long and still had all the special effects that made the movie. If it had not been for the special effects in 3D, I would have walked out after the first 2 hours!!

This movie was just as my review title says. It was good but not great. I mean it's pretty and all but I didn't get that sense of epic adventure I've gotten from other movies such as Lord of the Rings. For a movie that touts it's epicness, it sure does leave a lot to want. I mean really James Cameron? Really? All that money, and that's the best story you could pull? It could have been better but seriously, it just seemed like a safe bet kind of story. Nothing special. Half the time, you already knew what was going to happen and the other half, you could safely guess. I'm not saying it wasn't good... just that it could have been better...
I'm pretty picky with my movies though so what can I say?

I strongly recommend this movie to mature children, young adults and adults of every age. The story is wonderful, the acting is great and the special effects are amazing. Try to see it in 3D as the created world and vision of the director are astoundingly real in this format. This film has action and adventure but spirituality, and ecology are at its core. The best film I've seen in ages, and I see one to three films per week. It's a bit like Star Wars meets Indiana Jones and the Lord of the Rings all rolled into one glorious film. This one is not to be missed!

Absolutely the best movie of this type of the year! 3D Graphics were out of this world and the story line was so intense that I found myself believing that the animated characters were real and was on their side all the way. I know I enjoyed it because it didn't feel like I was in the theater for 2 hours, 40 min...the time flew! There has to be a sequel and soon!!!

The full story is well composed and the 3D effect looks very real. Full with advanture within the 2 hr and 40 mins. I almost couldn't pull myself out when it ends. So touching. Deep breath... This movie exceeded every expectation for me. There's no doubt that the special effects and animation pack a mean punch but there's a very good storyline that keeps you interested. When you become invested in characters and what happens to them in the story, then you know you have something that's worthwhile. I can't wait to take my mom and see it again!

Overall a very good movie. The 3D was awesome and we didn't get headaches from it. The 3D is state of the art, and the glasses they give you are much better than the old cardboard glasses. Not green on one eye and red on the other, much easier to tolerate. The storyline reminded me of another movie I won't mention, but the story was good because it shows compassion.

Definately a worth see in 3D! The story kept pace throughout the entire movie which is hard to do in a 2+ hr movie. In past there have been slow parts in the middle. Not so with this movie, the story kept moving along which kept me entertained the entire time. The 3D effects were pretty cool once my vision adjusted to everything going on in the beginning. It actually felt like I was running with the characters during one point in the movie. Overall a pretty decent movie..

A very different movie. The special effects are fantastic. I found myself a bit dizzy and having to take off the 3D glasses for a minute here and there. The action sequences are fast and thus if you experience motion sickness know it is normal. The message is clear at the end of the movie.

The world imagined by James Cameron is fascinating and compelling. I saw it in 3-D, and his use of 3-D was used much less gimicky than you often see. However, 3-D technology is still not completely convincing (some of the effects end up looking like flat cutouts against the background), so I think I would prefer to have seen it in the traditional format. Depending on how you look at it, the plot is either full of cliches, or resonates with references to American culture and history -- shades of cowboys and Indians, Pocahontas, Vietnam. But I would definitely recommend it.

I was blown away with this film. Never thought a movie with live actors and computer generated ones also could be any good but man was I wrong. The technology in this movie was amazing to say the least and the caracters were so real it was almost scary. When the movie was over, you left the theater really thinking about what man has done to our earth and how we try to push our beliefs on others not so strong. It felt good for the little man to win for a change instead of BIG INDUSTRY. I would go to see this movie again and again and again. As a 61 year old woman I never thought I would recommend a movie like this but I was totally wrong. See it!!! With the 3-D glasses on!!

Technically, it's quite an achievement. For this alone, it should be seen.
However, it's basically "Dances With Wolves" in space. White men are the bad guys and blue people are the poor oppressed natives who fight off the technically superior white men with their sticks, rocks and arrows (along with some "divine intervention").
The characters are not much better. They are very two dimensional (a more positive review would call them archetypal).
The script is passable and the special effects are spectacular. If the plot and characters had been there too then this would have been the clear winner for Best Picture.

We enjoyed this film - both of us expecting it would be for kids, but it is really not. The special effects and visuals were wonderful! Seeing it in 3-D made a difference because one feels that items are flying from the screen toward you! I don't think it's appropriate for children under 12 - there really is a lot of violence in it.

This movie was the best I have seen in so long. The action was great, and the love part of it was great. I have never been so excited about a movie like this when the human decides to take sides with the Avatar I wanted to stand up and scream because I was so excited. One of the characters mentioned how people(government) just take what they want without asking, this brings issues way back in time. I loved the movie, awesome.
