This movie was just as my review title says. It was good but not great. I mean it's pretty and all but I didn't get that sense of epic adventure I've gotten from other movies such as Lord of the Rings. For a movie that touts it's epicness, it sure does leave a lot to want. I mean really James Cameron? Really? All that money, and that's the best story you could pull? It could have been better but seriously, it just seemed like a safe bet kind of story. Nothing special. Half the time, you already knew what was going to happen and the other half, you could safely guess. I'm not saying it wasn't good... just that it could have been better...
I'm pretty picky with my movies though so what can I say?
I just saw Iron Man the other day and let me tell you. It was awesome. Anyone who watches it should stay until after the credits to see the surprise scene. Anyway, Robert Downey Jr. plays an excellent Tony Stark. The story was pretty good and the movie seems to go by fairly quickly. You won't even seem to notice it's 2 hours or more long. The action scenes are top notch and the comedy is pretty constant. Watch this movie because it really is good!
To be honest, I did not really like this movie. It made me so mad and frustrated. It was cheesy, and it just didn't explain enough as it went along. There were companions that joined the journey but little explanation as to why they followed the white guy around. The fighting wasn't that great if you've watched full Chinese dramas. It just wasn't that good honestly. It was also very jumpy and people would end up in completely different areas with little to no transition. The bad guy is just assumed to be the "bad" guy with not much reason. It was really hard to become part of the film for me because there just wasn't enough there to suck me in. The main actor, the white guy, was awful in my opinion and I really thought the movie would have been better in an epic trilogy or series format. I wouldn't suggest it to anyone that is a serious moviewatcher. It just made me feel dumb for watching it. I expected a movie with Jackie Chan and Jet Li to have no chance of failing but in my book, it failed. I understand the novelty of them making a movie together but I expected more. I expected at least average.
