I think I expected another "John Wayne" performance, but I was disappointed. Also, I didn't like the torture the girl's horse went through, but I suppose it was necessary for the storyline. Jeff Bridges is a really good actor, but I don't feel this was his best movie.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

We enjoyed this film - both of us expecting it would be for kids, but it is really not. The special effects and visuals were wonderful! Seeing it in 3-D made a difference because one feels that items are flying from the screen toward you! I don't think it's appropriate for children under 12 - there really is a lot of violence in it.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
