OK, so the storyline might be predictable - it doesn't matter. Avatar reached a new pinnacle for both CGI & 3D - the film was visually striking, the story engossing (even if predictable), making for a tremendously enjoyable experience for me (a life-long SF fan), my wife (not) and teen-age son. The world of Pandora and culture of the Na'vi were fully realized, making this one of a a handful of truly well done SF/fantasy films. It's truly a "must see".

The visuals were wonderful, a feast to watch. The story was nice, though the political bias was a bit too obvious and extreme. I thought it was too long. It could have easily been at least 20 minutes shorter, and nothing would have been lost. But overall, a remarkable technical accomplishment, and pleasure to watch.

Great twist on the Dances With Wolves them. Spectacular CGI and action sequences. 3D worked well with this film, and wasn't corny at all. Overall movie almost completely covered the not so subtle liberal undertones.

This movie was just so awesome I am almost at a loss for words to express just how wonderful it was. The effects, the story, the acting, the planet Pandora, Eywa, I mean the list goes on & on! I left wishing I could become a Na'vi. This film is loaded with such a profound message that I won't give away. This is a must-see film that makes you wonder just how far we could be as a human race if our evolution was based on working with nature instead of against it. The 3D effects were amazing; we couldn't ask for more as a holiday treat for our family.

I was looking forward to this movie and it met and exceeded my expections. It was visually stunning. You will fall in love with the planet Pandora just as Jake does. The story is predictable but entertaining all the same. The visuals steal the show. Haven't seen a 3D in a long time and it really enhanced the visual on this beautiful world. Three generations went to this(us, daughter, and grandson) and all loved the movie.

Great film, definitely a must see. 3D is the best way to see it. You will be jumping and dodging things that come towards you at times. Amazing story and special effects. It felt real at times.
only downside was its like 3 hours long and sometimes the 3D makes you cross-eyed and hard to focus.

James Cameron has been able to do what George Lucas could not. He was able to create computer graphics characters that looked real and not video gameish and reflected the actors that played them, including facial expressions. The scenery and 3D effects were stunning and well chosen. The whole movie was credible. However, if you want a deep insightful story, stay home and read some Agatha Christie.

A really excellent movie with beautiful music and great sound and visual effects in 3-D. Only down-side was Stephen Lang's commanding officer character being written as a little too camp for my taste. Perhaps it needed to be in this film, but it was distracting. Stunning visual effects but the story line was a blatant PC statement on the treatment of native Americans or any other indigenous people who have been displaced. The story line was so predictable as soon as they showed the big red bird my 13 year old son said to me "Hey dad, I bet he's going to get to ride one of those" and as soon as the transformation for Sigourney didn't work you knew it was going to work for him. So, in summary, great entertainment and yet another thinly veiled Hollywood commentary.

Exceptional movie. Special effects of the creatures were awesome. Funny how this relates to our Native Americans forced out of their homeland as well. Our theater's 3D did not work for the first 20 minutes. It was 3-4 stars OK, then the 3-D. Wow! The"regular" scenes in 3D were just as impressive as the Pandora scenes. Two lame cheap shot message lines about evil army/environmentalist tree hugging blah blah blah comments don't distract from a great thrill ride in 3D. Again- spend the couple extra $ for the 3D experience!

This is an absolute triumph of story telling and technology... I found myself completely immersed in the world of Pandora. Definitely worth watching!
