I have to say that I was not expecting this movie to be at all enjoyable but being a big Disney fan it was a must watch for me. The only thing I really disliked about this film was the casting of the apprentice. I thought that everything else fit pretty well. I really liked the special effects and Nic Cage was pretty fun to watch. I would have liked to see less of the love story and more of the action stuff. I also thought that scene that plays tribute to the Disney classic was great. If I had a choice between Airbender and this I would choose Apprentice. Since its a better movie overall.

I took my daughter to see this movie and there was enough action and special effects to keep us both interested. While some parts were a bit predictable, I thought that the story line was good. I liked that they left it open for additional stories at a later time, especially if you stayed past the credits.

This movie is entertaining but I don't think I'd see it again until it comes out on DVD and I can rent it for $1. There certainly were interesting parts but for now, Nicholas Cage, leave the wizardry action to Harry Potter. I also thought the intro story to the movie was a little cheesy too. They could have done better. I rated this movie 3 stars. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either.

Nick Cage works seamlessly with director John (National Treasure) Turtletaub once again to make another fun summer action fantasy for the whole family. NYU student Jay Baruchel plays the shy science nerd who suddenly finds his destiny at the side of the Master Sorcerer Nick. Alfred Molina is their perfect evil foil. There is lots of fun "inside humor" here. My favorites were the homage to Disney's Fantasia and the sarcastic Star Wars line used by the villain's apprentice.
Although this is not the top movie of the season, at the end most people in the huge full theater I watched it in applauded. That says it all!

This was one of the best movies (plot wise ) i have seen in quite some time. Extremely enjoyed the tie in between new and old, then and now. Also the actors fit the characters with excellent accuracy. This is closer to a modern day family movie than most movies that are considered family. Personally i left this movie feeling good and i felt my dollars were spent on something worth while!

I heard mixed reviews before I went to see this movie but the advertising for the movie lured me in. It was a fantastic fantasy action adventure movie. Good story, good plot, interesting charecters & plenty of action. Now I took my 3 yr old that even though he liked it, got very antsy half way through. While I don't think the content was inappropriate (he's seen/heard worse in daycare) I do think a lot of it was over his head. But for older kids & adults this is a winner.

I thought it was as good or better than A team, not the same type of movie of course, but it was exciting, and the special efffects were good. I'm not going to go too deep with this review, but I've been hearing that this movie is a flop, and if that is true then it's not because of the movie. People going to the movies now cannot afford to take the whole family and this is a family movie. Prices are out of control at the movies and a lot of people are simply waiting on DVD, but this one is worth seeing even if you can only afford a matinee price.

While the story line is more for the younger crowd it was definitely enjoyable. I am glad to see a movie with action that doesn't have profanity in it. Nicolas Cage is awesome and as sexy as ever. However the apprentice could have been pumped up a bit. With his lack of self confidence I'm not sure him saving the world is really feasible, but none-the-less, there he is. They should have matured his charisma just a bit sooner. Good movie for the whole family.

Great movie I was unsure if wanted to wait till came out on dvd but was glad I went to see it in the theater. It has a great story line and keeps you on the edge of your seat with fun and action. Each scene has something new and exciting. All the actors including Nicolas Cage were awesome. It is a good family friendly movie and a great way to beat the summer heat. Dont take my word for it go see it yourself dont just sit there get up and get out there and see a great movie.

You can't miss with Nicolas Cage. He was outstanding. However, the apprentice was just toooo nerdy. I thought he would change somewhere in the movie, but was disappointed. It's like they tried to make a Sam from Transformers out of him, similar build, hair color and the nerdiness, but they failed miserably. The eye rolling and body twitches were irritating. The story line of the movie was really good. However, they never really showed you how he got from not knowing magic to all of a sudden being able to stop the ending of the world. Could have at least showed a progression of learning magic.

You know it's very refreshing to see a movie that's not all gore and tons of swear words. I love that they paid tribute to the original sorcerers apprenitce. I had a great time with my wife as a date. This included good action and CGI, as well as humor I laughed out loud too, along with my wife and others in the audience. This was a great film! Fun, exciting, with charming nods to the original.
I like Nicolas Cage anyway but this may be one of his best characters yet. I thought it would be a fun flick, but, I didn't expect it to be as good as it was. Can't wait to see it again and buy it for at home viewing!

Doesn't blow your mind like Pirates, but it's a fun summer flick. David gives all nerds a reason to be proud, and while the misfit-turned-hero is a common character, he's played very well by Baruchel. Cage is really more along for the ride, but, heck, it's Nic Cage. Unfortunately having the hero be a college student won't appeal to the tikes, nor is it over-the-top enough (again a la Pirates) to appeal heavily to the grown ups. Coming out the same week as a film that will appeal to the later, Inception, hasn't helped either, but try to pick up a matinee showing instead of saving it for DVD.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice is a magical adventure that should please the entire family! Nothing earth-shattering here but there is a lot to be said for an inventive, fun, family pic that creates some interesting dynamics between Cage's sorcerer and Baruchel's "nerdy" modern day apprentice. The effects are above average but rarely spectacular ... and that is okay in this movie. The meat and potatoes are the relationships between Cage, Molina (always great), Baruchel and Palmer. We liked the characters and the way they are portrayed. A fun, summer, family diversion.

this movie was a refreshing surprise.. after the trailers and media coverage it was difficult to determine if we had seen the best parts of the movie already, but there was definately more in store. This story is not new, but it was retold in a way that incorporated modern sensabilities to keep it fresh. The acting was good without being too overdone and the effects were good. Overall it was a good movie.

Sorcerer's Apprentice is definitely worth seeing. I went with my sister and mother and all three of us thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It is a little silly in parts and conflicts are solved far to easily but the special effects and battle sequences pick up the slack with some fun eye-candy. I've heard some reviews bash the movie for its Disney Fantasia references but I disagree completely. That scene was very cute and inventive. Great movie for the family or just a fun night out!

My son and I went to see this movie, and I thought it was very entertaining. The special effects were very well done and the story line is easy to follow. This is a movie you can sit and watch and not have to rack your brain to understand it. I think that too many people look too much into the story line and won't just enjoy what is on the screen. The movie was very well done, the acting was great, and most of all my son and I enjoyed it. This is a great movie for the family if you like sci-fi. I would recomend it to everyone to go and see.

As a all things Disney lover of course I looked forward to the segment of Fantasia's Sorcerer's Apprentice with anticipation, they did not disappoint, I was totally delighted by the sequence and the rest of the story line fell within Disney's signiture style. I will watch it again in the near future!

The Sorcerer's Apprentice is hokey, but in an incredibly good way. Yes, it is predictable and it's more light-hearted than sinister, but the ride is enjoyable and the cast steers it from going too hammy or too cheesy. Watch the film to the VERY end or you'll miss the tag.

My friend and I found this movie to be very entertaining, fun and funny. It maintained a good level of action without being ridiculous, held our attention pretty much throughout and even contains a wonderful nod to the original, animated Sorcerer's Apprentice.
If you're looking for sheer entertainment and fun, this is a great one to see. I highly recommend it.
