I used to be a top 10 contributor on this movie review site, but since they went to the new format I don't even bother with it. I like the percentage other than the star format, with that said, this movie brought me out to review again, that's how good it is.
I dare you to leave the movie theater and not feel good after watching this one. Everyone in the theater was cheering and clapping at the end. Now the story is not going to win any academy awards and non of the actors will either but this is a great movie. All of the characters were great, and even though its not saying much, this is however Keven James best movie to date. He looked great in the movie too, was afraid he might end up another overweight personality we used to love that passed away too soon, but the boy almost looked thin at times. We took our son and his two friends for his birthday, my wife and I laughed all through it and even nearly got choked up at one part near the end when there was a touching moment between his students. Henry Winklers role was hilariouos, and who knew that Bas Rutten would steal the movie with how funny this former MMA star could be. I've not heard this movie even promoted that much, but it's hanging on in theaters by word of mouth, and trust me you will not be disappointed. Go see it if you want to laugh, and feel good.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, funny funny funny
Avengers...What little I can add to the already stellar reviews is this movie is completely Massive in it's presentation so don't waste your money on NON-digital theaters that don't offer the sound required. I hit the first showing of the day with my son at an AMC in OKC and the sound was horrible in a non digital theater. Actually think this one is worth the price of 3D and if you have the need for an IMAX fix that is truly an IMAX experience then go for it. This movie is just plain fun and you won't go wrong.
The only knock is that the disfunction of this little family took a little too long when it's the non action bickering, we all get that they don't get along, and that's the climactic part of the film when they come together of course, but the fight scenes (when they are at each other) are great, so sit back, (skip the "bladder buster" drink unless you have a horse bladder and can hold it for 2 1/2 hours) and enjoy.
If you haven't already heard then wait through the credits for a glimpse of the threat for the next movie. Enjoy!!!
I'm not going to dazzle you with some long drawn out review like some of the contribuators. I love the Stooges but this movie is a rental at best, I'm sorry to say. I nearly left the movie in the first segment, yes segment. It is set up like old Stooges short films and that was sort of cool, but it seemed as though they were just making an attempt to look and sound like the Stooges in modern day settings. The Jersey Shore thing was cute, but those people are horrible actors and it just looked stupid, can't phrase it any differently. There are a few funny scenes, but for the most part this doesn't live up to the slap stick humor of the original Stooges. I did hear that the makers of this movie actually are giving some of the earnings to the family of the Stooges, since the original Stooges were basically ripped off of their entire career and worked for nothing basically, so that part I respect from the Farrelly brothers. I do like their work, and was looking forward to seeing how they brought the Stooges to todays screen but I'm afraid they missed the mark on this one.
Lastly bring back the old movie review system showing percentages, this new system sucks!!!
....except the little ones because this is an adult comedy, but no nudity so you don't have to be embarrassed if you take your teen. The relationsip between Reese and Chelseys characters is very funny, and the two guys although having a serious job to do are very comedic also. Action thrown in there to appeal to the guys, but this one is very funny that you will enjoy seeing if you are a guy. Ladies will love it for the eye candy, and guys will love it for the Reese candy, haha, worth the price of admission for sure.
seems like this guy rarely makes a bad movie and Ryan Reynolds continues to shed the tweenie roles that he has clearly outgrown. Non Stop Action PEOPLE...don't know how anyone could give this one a bad review and frankly can't believe the positive feedback is not in the 90% range. I really am starting to think that only people who hate movies are leaving reviews, but this story line had twists and turns and when you think you have it figured out then it shocks you with another twists. Is this a new story type? No but it's a great movie, great acting, great action and actually worth the money to see.
frankly shocked at those who apparently didn't like this movie. Many have put it in their top 10 for 2011. As far as action movies that are actually SMART, I put it at the top of my list. This is one of those movies that you are glad you saw it on the big screen because the cinematography is part of the movie, and a strong part at that. I will say that I do consider myself a Tom Cruise fan because I grew up on his films and took about 10 dates to Top Gun in 86, so I'm glad to see him have a winner again. Just remember if his next flick is not a winner with the 80's music theme then Mr. Cruise you might be flying a plane full of rubber dog s*** out of Hong Kong...(okay not so subtle Top Gun reference). Jeremy Renner is a fast up and coming star that no doubt will have multiple Oscars on his path if he keeps going the way he is. This is a good one folks. Enjoy!!!
arent comedies supposed to be funny? The latest batch of comedies are really disappointing. Love Eddie Murphy and there were some laugh out loud funny parts, which is why I would recommend for DVD. If you have some money to burn on a matinee then give it a look. I will say that this is funnier than "Jack and Jill" the new Sandler movie, but that's not saying much. The ending was really strange with the build up only to see what happens to Stillers character. Thought it was BS to leave it like that, unless they are setting up for the sequel, and I really hope not. This one was so so, but I could maybe recommend with 3 1/2 stars for what it is, but it's a so so kind of funny movie. I didn't fall asleep so that was the plus here. Good luck campers !
I guess to review a movie all you need to do is see the trailer, because that was pretty much all the funny parts. I really like Adam Sandler movies, but this was just bad, creepy, and double creepy with Al Pacino playing this crazy version of his already crazy self. I just didn't find it very funny. There was zero chemistry between Katie Holmes and Sandler. I like Katie Holmes but she doesn't do funny very well. I wish they had shown more Dana Carvey. To mention him in a starring role is ridiculous, he was barely in it at all. Story was really weak, sorry to say, really wanted to like this one but I didn't. If you have nothing better to do and can spring for a matinee then do it, other wise wait for DVD, or Netflix, or Encore, or when it comes out on TBS basic cable because you arent missing anything here.
This is a movie you can take the kids to and have a little fun. I found myself a little bored by the end, and was tired after falling asleep in the Justin Timberlake movie, yawn, so I'm factoring that in. The robots were cool, for some reason this reminded me more of Stalllones futuristic movies (for production value) than it did of a robot Rocky. I had the rock em sock em robots as a kid and have bought the modern version for my kids (that don't work worth a darn) so I thought it was sort of cool, but a great movie? NO, but it was fun for what it was, a not so serious, semi sci fi fun time.
I literally fell asleep in the theater, movie was not sci fi it was just weird. Cars are basically the same in a futuristic movely? Come on. The premise of the movie about keeping social classes controlled seemed interesting but I thought it fell short. I like Justin Timberlake and he is good in a supporting role, but he is not ready to carry a movie. If you do go see it then see it for matinee price.
