My two grandchildren, ages 12 and 7, went with me to see this movie, and the 7-yr. old, who talks nonstop in most situations, was enthralled! He hissed under his breath when a "bad guy" got in a good hit and grinned when the "good guy" won. It was nice that a nerdy kind of guy was a hero and Nicholas Cage made all his "sorerer's magic" look commonplace. Has a little bit of everything, fantasy, mayhem, evil, love, kindness, to appeal to all.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice was a fun and action-packed movie. Loved the special effects. We stayed to see the credits, just in case there was an extra scene at the end and were not disappointed. Wondering if the person who puts on the hat is Walt Disney, Mickey Mouse, or if this is a tease to generate interest in a sequel...You will enjoy a fun summer movie if you go to see it.

The movie was great. The animations and graphics were spot on. The plot moves kind of quick, but its a wonderful sequence that is action packed. There is a twist of love, which is kind of sappy on the boys part, but Nic Cage is more mature in his role.

I am a magic-fantasy nut and was disappointed with this movie. There were 6 people in the theater with me for this late afternoon performance. The most interesting part was the opening scene where they gave a history of the Merlin story. Although there were some good spots that made me smile, this current day magical thriller left me wanting more. I can not believe they actually put a car chase in the movie!!! And the car changing magic???? The geekiness of the apprentice was too overboard and the matchup between him and his dreamy girlfriend was unbelievable. To me it was culture shock! The scene of electrical bolts shooting through the air to music while the 2 of them stood in a iron cage holding on for dear life was very poor. I was waiting for them to take off in space or something??? The 10 year change from childhood to adulthood was poorly done. Could have done more with watching him be a special child growing up to build the story rather than jumping to a 20 year old brain??? The story line seemed too predicatable and of course the non magic muggle girl saved the day???? I ldid however love the Mickey Mouse Apprentice Mop Redo!!! Very Cute. I also loved Nicholas Cage!!!!! He is adorable in long hair! But I do agree... too many short lived characters and disconnected scenes! Synopsis...Merlin Story, geeky boy, brainy 20yr old, China town, radio station love story, electrical musical performance, mop scene, bathroom scene, car chase, circle of the city with no one in sight in a huge city where fire bolts shoot between buildings yet no one can see them, a non-magic girl saves the day, the wizard finds himself, they all fall in love! I hope I got it all in the right order! In my opinion this did not even live up to the TV Merlin shows and it was miles away from the Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings series. Disappointed in Disney this time!!!

Went with the kids (all 13 and under) the boys left the theater shooting imaginary plasma balls at each other. It captured all of our imaginations, especially theirs. It was a fun getaway .

I LOVE seeing a movie on opening night! Even when it happens to be on a Wednesday and the AMC feels like a ghost town.
No matter, it was a must for me to take in "The Sorcerer's Apprentice"! I'm a Nic Cage fan, a Disney fan, and a Jerry Bruckheimer fan rolled into one!
And boy did I have fun!
The story and special effects were way cool!
This is a really creative adaptation of the classic animated tale. Only in 2010, instead of Mickey Mouse we've got "Tropic Thunder's" Jay Baruchel to make us laugh. He's got charm, he's got comedic timing, and he's got an excellent supporting cast of oddball characters!
Omar Benson Miller is hilarious! Give the casting director a high five for me. Omar's scenes were VERY funny!
Alfred Molina was pure awesomeness! Nic was the master! And the beautiful Monica Bellucci was like the icing on the cake!
What more could I ask for! I'm ready for the sequel! Bring it on!

First off, I think this movie had potential...well maybe not. It seems to me this movie was a product of too many credited writers throwing in the typical summer blockbuster lines. In turn it led to a movie that was very predictable. The graphics were pretty stunning. Some characters left flawed, ie: witch girl, seems like those few scenes were an after thought as well as a few short-lived characters. This flik tries hard to be funny but the timing just seemed off. There was also a love story tied in..well almost tied in. It seemed the focus on both the love and magic just didn't blend well.

I enjoyed watching Sorcerer's Apprentice at the midnight show. The show, unfortunately was not well attended. I guess it didn't peak the interest of the geek population. But as a geek myself I certainly enjoyed the storyline, the special effects and there were even some choice bits of dialogue. It is better than average family entertainment. Jay Barchel (Dave, the last Merlinian) puts in a believable and lovable performance as the science nerd. I liked how they linked physics and magic, because everyone knows that mathematics is true magic. There is a scene that in my opinion is in homage to The Sword in the Stone, a great Disney animated tale of Merlin. Sorcerer's Apprentice is well worth checking out if you are a fan of Nicolas Cage, Merlin, Magic or romantic comedy (the romance is a sub plot).

Saw this at midnight movie and the crowd enjoyed it alot. I can't believe Jay Baruchel gets all these girls by being so inept. His nerdy part is played almost past comfort zone but is very believable. Magic is in the Air and when you see it you will understand the pun I used. Fun light hearted. See if you can catch the Fantasia references throughout the movie. I half expected Mickey Mouse to pop up and I think he is in there somewhere. Go enjoy.

Exactly what I expected from Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer. Nicholas Cage, for me as always, was great - he brings such a sly sense of fun to the movie. Jay Baruchel plays the loveable nerd perfectly - I just loved watching it. My daughter was able to go as well - she is 12 - and enjoyed it. With the folks who worked on National Treasure and the "Disney Machine" behind this project I had very high hopes for the show. Every expectation was met! The acting was great, the special effects were out of this world, and the thrills just kept on coming. Took my 17 year old son to the midnight show and would gladly do it again. Be careful to choose a theater with great sound and picture to really appreciate this one.

I went to the midnight showing, I DO NOT REGRET IT. I absolutely loved the story, the effects were perfect, acting was superb. Great movie a definite must-see! Nicolas Cage is the perfect pick for this movie!
