I am a magic-fantasy nut and was disappointed with this movie. There were 6 people in the theater with me for this late afternoon performance. The most interesting part was the opening scene where they gave a history of the Merlin story. Although there were some good spots that made me smile, this current day magical thriller left me wanting more. I can not believe they actually put a car chase in the movie!!! And the car changing magic???? The geekiness of the apprentice was too overboard and the matchup between him and his dreamy girlfriend was unbelievable. To me it was culture shock! The scene of electrical bolts shooting through the air to music while the 2 of them stood in a iron cage holding on for dear life was very poor. I was waiting for them to take off in space or something??? The 10 year change from childhood to adulthood was poorly done. Could have done more with watching him be a special child growing up to build the story rather than jumping to a 20 year old brain??? The story line seemed too predicatable and of course the non magic muggle girl saved the day???? I ldid however love the Mickey Mouse Apprentice Mop Redo!!! Very Cute. I also loved Nicholas Cage!!!!! He is adorable in long hair! But I do agree... too many short lived characters and disconnected scenes! Synopsis...Merlin Story, geeky boy, brainy 20yr old, China town, radio station love story, electrical musical performance, mop scene, bathroom scene, car chase, circle of the city with no one in sight in a huge city where fire bolts shoot between buildings yet no one can see them, a non-magic girl saves the day, the wizard finds himself, they all fall in love! I hope I got it all in the right order! In my opinion this did not even live up to the TV Merlin shows and it was miles away from the Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings series. Disappointed in Disney this time!!!
