My 19-year old son and I just saw this movie tonight, expecting to hate it because of all the bad reviews. We about died laughing. If you want a movie with a great plot, this is not it. But if you just want to see something that will make you laugh out loud -- numerous times -- it's definitely the one to see. I have no idea what it is that critics found so unappealing, but this is a good comedy with very little bad language and new material on an old them (i.e., talking animals).

My wife and I saw the movie at 11:15 Wednesday morning, and had a lot of fun watching it. We enjoy watching some family movies and some light drama type movies. Kevin James was great and I don't think you could have picked a better cast, and the voices were right on target. I would reccomend this movie to anyong, young or old. I took my 11 & 12 yr old daughters to this movie & we laughed until our sides hurt. The movie theater was almost packed & everyone was laughing so much it was hard to hear sometimes. Great family movie. Kevin James & Rosario Dawson make a great team.

Very funny movie, great for kids and adults! Kevin James was extremely funny and played his role rather well. I laughed so loud at this film, it was making others at the movie laugh too. I swear the theme song sounded like the cartoon theme to the Rug Rats. Similar, although I am sure it was not the song. There are funny moments and not-so-funny moments, but unfortunately the ridiculous outweighed the funny. I will not go into what they were, if you saw it. you know what I am talking about. Definitely a "wait until it comes to cable" film. Kids will love it, though.

I took my 10 year old daughter to this movie and we both laughed out loud, as did most of the entire audience. It has been a long time since I've heard that much laughter in a theatre and it was a very enjoyable experience. I have been a fan of Kevin James since his sitcom days and have never missed one of his movies.

I took my two children and my niece to see this movie. It was very cute and touching and we all loved the relationship between the "Zookeeper" and the gorilla. My kids and I really liked it. Two thumbs up!

Kevin James once again does not disappoint. We need a light and upbeat movie. Too many serious issues in the world. I laughed and smiled the whole movie. Went and saw it the first night and the theatre was packed. Nice to hear people laugh again. The voices of the animals that were giving life with such talented people in the craft made the movie " awesome". Told my friends I went and now another group of friends are going to see it. Me and my wife went to the theater just in the first day the movie came out. That was a full house. We had to seat in the first row. But, guess what? It was really worthy. Because we liked that much, we already have another day reserved to see it again, this time from a better seat!

This is a movie you can wait for the video and watch it at home. Unless you have young kids 6-11 this is not a film to pay $10 per ticket or more to go see.
I laughed in a couple of spots that is why it got a 3. Predictable, you can see most of the jokes coming amile away. The talking ape is very poorly done and not believable. It just looks like a guy in costume.
Save your money for Harry Potter or even Horrible Bosses. I would go see Super 8 again before wasting money on this one.

Kevin James is very funny and a great actor. This comedy reminded me of Dr Doolittle with them talking to the animals. Adam Sandler was good in this comedy also. Cudos to Columbia Pictures Studio and the writers for a great comedy with plenty of laughter.

Kevin James gives a great performance as a man confused about life's choices on who to marry and what to do - be a zookeeper or live life in the fast lane selling high-priced sports cars for his brother, which gets him what he believes is the girl of his dreams. His big heart eventually points the right way to go, but during this time, his life is a real zoo, and the advice he gets isn't always suited to being human.
Rosario Dawson gives a great performance too and is absolutely beautiful - the first time I've seen her in a role that shows off her femininity. And then there's the aminals - they add lots to the movie, but don't over-power it. Everything is well-played and the animal FX effects are great!
Final thoughts: It's good family entertainment that's worth seeing now and downloading later!

My teenage daughter really wanted to see this when it came out and to be honest with you, it looked to me from the previews to be 'cute' at best and a rental. So got talked into going to see this opening day- and to my surprise, I actually liked it. It was clean, no potty talk- and it was a nice storyline. A little predictable, but still a fun movie. It was fun trying to guess what celebrity voices were doing the animals too. I liked it. Anything that doesn't have a crummy ending and lets me leave the theater with a good feeling is a definite thumbs up for me!

This movie was ok. It certainly had some funny parts and the overall message was good, but the plot was probably too serious for kids to enjoy and the jokes were not all that funny. I love Kevin James and there was a lot of potential here, but his character was portrayed as an idiot, but he really wasn't, if that makes any sense.
