I was expecting to love Meryl Streep in this film, but I wasn't expecting to love the movie. What a wonderful surprise to find that Iron Lady is my favorite fIlm of the year. I can't remember the last time I cried in a movie theater, but Streep's portrayal of the aged Thatcher is heartbreaking and touching. If Streep doesn't win an Oscar this year, then no one should win. She's just that good.
Michele Willliams is competent as Monroe, but the performance is not Oscar worthy. The story itself is predictable and dull. The only exception is Kenneth Branagh's portrayal of Olivier - he manages to breathe life into this very average film. Very disappointing.
Interesting story, thanks to the riveting performance of Leonardo DiCaprio! Clint Eastwood does another amazing job in bringing this story to life in such a sympathetic manner. Judi Dench is riveting as Hoover's controlling mother. Don't miss this film.
I went to see this with my 10 year old son. I expected it to be cute and nothing more. To my surprise and delight, I think I liked it even more than my son did - and he thought it was terrific! It is so cleverly written that it keeps audiences of all ages engaged. Wonderful film!
You don't have to be a baseball fan to love Moneyball. The story is so compelling, and Brad Pitt's performance is so convincing, that everyone will love it!
This is the most audacious and ambitious movie I've ever seen. It's perplexing, gorgeous to look at, thought-provoking, and will stay with you long after the closing credits. You really need to see it twice to fully appreciate the experience.
I can't remember laughing so hard at a movie in ages. Very raunchy but funny! It's not just a "chick flick." My husband was hysterically laughing and loved it too. Great summer movie - lots of fun!
I really enjoyed this film. The director took her time setting the atmosphere and the growing struggle these people endured. I know the ending will drive some people crazy - my husband hated it and said it ruined an otherwise terrific film - but I liked how it was left without the ends neatly tied up. I highly recommend Meek's Cutoff.
This is a slice of American history not many people are familiar with, and it's told in a riveting way. The acting is superb, the cinematography gorgeous, and the direction is Redford at his best. This is a film that stayed with me long after the movie was over. I heartily recommend this movie!
