Best Movie Since King's Speech

I am a very tough movie critic (as is my mom, with whom I saw the movie). I get tougher when I've read a book and then see the movie. I can say without question that this was the absolute best book-to-movie adaptation I've ever seen. And I see about 1 or 2 movies a week.
For those who loved the book, you will not be disappointed at all. For those who haven't, you will be totally amazed (my mom had not read the book).
Not only is it laugh-out-loud funny throughout the movie, it's touching, sad, joyful -- so many emotions. It's not a chick flick, but a story that is honest, brutal and heartfelt. I could not recommend it more highly.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

What's wrong with the critics?

My 19-year old son and I just saw this movie tonight, expecting to hate it because of all the bad reviews. We about died laughing. If you want a movie with a great plot, this is not it. But if you just want to see something that will make you laugh out loud -- numerous times -- it's definitely the one to see. I have no idea what it is that critics found so unappealing, but this is a good comedy with very little bad language and new material on an old them (i.e., talking animals).
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Horrificly violent, no point & NOT FUNNY

I almost got up and walked out of this movie after the first 15 minutes, and after staying and finishing it, I wish I had listened to my first instinct. In addition to just being horrified at the senseless and horrific violence -- and I'm not opposed to violence when it's warranted (I loved Gladiator, for instance) -- this movie was just bad. The plot was ludicrous. The acting was terrible (Brad Pitt especially). But there were people laughing at it, which is just unbelievable to me. It was not funny. It was absolutely dreadful. Watching what the Germans did to people was bad enough. Pretending that it's OK to dream about a group of people doing something equally horrible to Germans and thinking it's funny is not OK. It's sick.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

So I didn't go into this movie with any expectations, which is why I think I liked it a little better than most people. I didn't see any of the reviews, so that helped, too. I thought the plot carried along pretty well (although it was pretty predictable, but what movie isn't these days?). But the acting was fairly decent, and there were some funny moments. I really liked the cast, and I thought it was a relaxing way to spend 1.5 hours. It wasn't an Oscar performance, and, no, it wasn't as good as Office Space, but it wasn't horrific, either. Certainly better than some of the trash out there, and a good way to just enjoy an afternoon.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I loved Meryl and Amy in Doubt, and I loved them in this movie. What great performances, and what a great script! Not only was the story funny, but it was well written and extraordinarily acted. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the story of Julia Child, who I vaguely remember from childhood. And it becomes even more interesting as the story is shown in opposition to a modern-day version. There are places where it lags just a touch -- but not many. I will go see it again, and I will buy it. Something I only do about once every two years. Excellent movie.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The kids (13 and 17) said they would give it this rating, and I agree. Plus, I think that's a better rating system. The plot was weak, but they've gotten weaker as the sequels have progressed. But Scrat, who is hysterical, made up for it.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I went to this movie expecting it to be fun for my 13-year old daughter and my husband, who likes kids' movies. I was absolutely blown away. It definitely is not a kids' movie. It was touching (I cried several times), had so much underlying meaning, had a wonderful plot, was beautifully done in so many ways. This is by far the best movie I have seen in months. Absolutely worth the time. Take tissues!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Doesn't live up to the hype

I can understand why teenagers like this movie. But it certainly didn't live up to the hype. And it made no sense (the time travel aspect, especially) in terms of plot.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I got up and walked out of this movie. Didn't laugh after 45 minutes and was tired of hearing the same curse words and seeing the same stupid movie line that I've seen 1,000 times. Totally ridiculous and inane.

It's been five days, and I can't even remember what this movie was about. It's the curse of Matthew Mc. I love Jennifer Garner, so I went to see it. I just remember he played a pig (as usual), and she was the lovable, perfect girl. It was very predictable. Too bad they didn't pair her with someone who actually can act and has chemistry besides only himself.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
