Training Dragons brings back the story of conflict of misunderstood adversaries. Characters develop, some scenes will have you rolling in laughter, and the end shows that not all gain comes without some loss. This movie was amazing. The 3-D effects were amazing and the story line was great. After seeing the movie (IMAX 3D), I would not shut up about it for a long time afterwards. The story was very different from the book, but it was different enough to be good simply as a completely different story. Other movies have kind of failed at this (nice try, Eragon). The characters were funny and the dragons were fierce, in a cute way. Things are generally supposed to be cute in a kid's movie. The theme of the movie was good, and it wasn't too focused on trying to impress it on you, which was also good. Movies can get annoying when they ditch the story to preach at you about how you should do this and not that and that sort of thing. The themes may be good, and they are important, but that isn't the whole movie. The whole movie is a mixture of things, of effects, story line, theme, character development, scenery, battles and more. That's what people go to the movies to see. That's what How To Train Your Dragon is.

This, as usual, is a well made dreamworks film. I will say that it doesn't really deliver anything too surprising or new as far as that goes. However, the 3D was done beautifully and the movie was a wonderfully done version of the standard hero theme. My girlfriend and I both thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It might have gotten an even higher rating if they had done anything truly groudbreaking, but, seriously, this is a thoughtfully put together production that delivers everything many people would be looking for in a movie going experience.

I cannot compare the visual experience with other movies since this was my very first IMAX 3D movie, but, WOW, very well done! My only real irk I have is that Hollywood has once again created a movie that teaches parents to listen to their WISE teenagers, that they (the Teen), knows best. Otherwise, this was very entertaining and I anticipate purchasing the DVD for the visual experience alone.

Loved the animation and imagination. IMAX was wonderful. Our group ranged in age from 7 to 68 and we all loved it. Highly recommend for youngsters 6 and up. Might be too much for under 5. But, fun for all!! We went to Amc-24 on Barry Road and I-29 for their IMAX screen.

We took our 6-year-old son to see this in Imax 3D. It was absolutely a wonderful movie. Our son was engaged through the whole movie and barely moved, much less had anything to talk about. He even tried to reach out an grab things several times it was so realistic. He left the movie wide-eyed and ready to go back. As parents, we have already started talking about spending money to see it again. In this economy, I would say that speaks volumes about this movie. Great story line, great action(not too bad, I was honestly prepared for worse with a PG rating), language was not at all bad and animation was out of this world. All 3 of us would recommend highly.

"How To Train Your Dragon" is a wonderful, well-rounded movie. It has the quirkiness and tenderness that one would expect from the Directors of "Lilo & Stitch," with even more excitement and thrills. The flying sequences are amazing -- especially when seen in IMAX. The only negative about the IMAX experience is that the sound may be overwhelming for children. For those with young ones, I'd recommend a traditional or 3D -only screening. We've seen this both ways and will see it again!

For starters the usage of 3D in the movie was fantastic. For the most part it was all depth of field and not woooo look we can put stuff in front of you and make things fuzzy. The animation was just superb! The story was of course geared towards children but per normal Dreamworks manages to get adult humor in to the writing as well.
Kung Fu panda had been my favorite animated flick but in one showing How to Train Your Dragon completely usurped its position.

My 4 year old was insistent that she wanted to see this movie. I was really on the fence given its MPAA rating. The opening 15 minutes is a battle between the dragons and vikings. It was a bit overwhelming for her and we left about 20 minutes into the movie because she was too scared. Movie looked like a winner, but if your 4 year old begs you to see it, probably not a good idea.

We saw this is 3d IMAX and it was great. I really don't think I will go to movies that are not 3D IMAX. The voice actors were perfectly cast for their roles and it was overall just a good story. This ranks up there with the first Shrek and other DreamWorks best.

This movie is Definitely worth going to see! We drove an hour and a half to view it in 3D Imax and it was well worth the drive. The movie itself started out a little slow but once it got moving it really drug you into the story of it. I brought 3 kids with me when we saw it (2 boys and a girl) and all said they loved the movie so kids tested and parent approved :D

I went with my 11 year old son & we loved it. Great use of IMAX - this one will really lose a lot on the small screen. Good story, characters, amazing visuals. Very good moral lesson snuck in too - be true to yourself, and do the right thing even if everyone around you mocks you & wants you to do something else.

I am not a big fan of paying to go to the movies. I generally wait until they come out on dvd and rent them. However, for some reason, this movie snagged my attention.
First the animation is done very well. It would be good in flat showing but is fantastic in 3D.
Second, Character development was very complete. You cared about the main characters. The secondary characters were established o.k. but were not as complete.
Third, action and music was excellent and I want the soundtrack.
I paid a high price for a movie just last week and it was not worth the money. However, this movie I felt was worth it and the theater may even get my money a second time to go see it.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Good story, great voices, 3D was great and not over done and as always IMAX picture and sound made the experience even better.
