Not for younger kids

My 4 year old was insistent that she wanted to see this movie. I was really on the fence given its MPAA rating. The opening 15 minutes is a battle between the dragons and vikings. It was a bit overwhelming for her and we left about 20 minutes into the movie because she was too scared. Movie looked like a winner, but if your 4 year old begs you to see it, probably not a good idea.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
