I saw this movie twice already. Once in regular format and then again in IMAX 3D. And I have to say the IMAX experience was well worth the second viewing. This movie is another testament to James Cameron and his ability to make films that really captivate an audience.

Avatar is an amazing experience in IMAX 3-D. Well worth the premium ticket price! I found the story interesting enough so I am not sure what people are complaining about. You can't go in expecting Oscar winning dialogue for a movie of this genre. Me, my 16 year old and 13 year old were engaged the entire time. It certainly did not seem like a three-hour movie. Visually stunning, probably the best cgi characterization in any movie to date. You feel the characters are real and not computer generated. You truly get lost in Pandora. The environment oozes attention to detail. We are seeing it again this weekend and probably would shell out the money to see it a third time if our IMAX was not over an hour’s drive away.

u no, in the past its always been impossible to make a sequel as good/better then the original. sure there will always be improvements in graphics and areas like that. but man oh man, this is best movie iv ever seen. great story, believable charictors. betrayal and returning to help save the ones hurt by the main charictor all of these have been done in the past. none b4 have ever pulled everything together so well. il think on this some more but i doubt il find anything wrong w/ it. i doubt anyone can. a longer review can be read on my facebook page.

This is definitely a movie worth seeing and it is worth the extra money to see it in 3D @ the IMAX. Although it is a long movie, 2 hrs 40 minutes (according to the run time), it is always captivating and never boring.

At its best it's a sci-fi "Dances With Wolves". but the need to cram the plot into a standard action/adventure formula leading to a ridiculous show-down with the single lead bad-guy turns all aspirations of "Avatar" firmly away from anything more than a pretty display of film making technology.
Go see it in 3-D, because why else would you want to.
If this movie is a "game-changer", then the new game is putting high-tech CGI tech over a ridiculous, intelligence-offending barrage of re-used story, stereotypical characters and clichéd plot-devices. I'd rather not play that game,

From the opening scene through the final credit, you will not have wasted one second of time watching Avatar. The graphics are beyond anything you have seen before. Unlike the most recent CGI movies - you don't question at all the reality of the scenes - just take in the beauty of the environment. And don't think that this movie is all about the visual effects, because the underlining story keeps you interested and guessing at what comes next at each step. I have seen some great movies over the past 30 years and never saw one twice in a theater - this one I will be back again without a doubt. Do not miss the opportunity to see it on the large screen!

Loved it. I had very little expectations of this little movie - was fantastic to watch a movie that had not unveiled the entire movie in the trailers like usual. The use of 3D was perfect, I usually get a little dizzy with things popping up all over the place. James Cameron used 3D to enhance the movie not distract from it. The story, the visuals - I want to see it again! If you get a chance watch at IMAX theatre in 3D. It is worth the extra 8 dollars I guarantee you!!!

It was a very visually pleasing movie. It was my first 3D movie and I was impressed. Although some of the previews looked even better. I thought that the acting and storyline were only okay. I also thought the aliens appearance was too close to human. I would have liked to see a little more imagination. They have white teeth and fingernails on their fingers. I felt like the acting was on par with the acting in cut scenes from a video game. However, I would definitely recommend seeing this movie in the theatre, because it's not gonna be as good at home.

I am jaded. My favorite films are the classics like Lawrence of Arabia, and also recent classics like Unforgiven. So for this my eyes were wide open. So while the story is a little on the simple side, I must say it is SO well presented and the 3D effects are so groundbreaking that it is simply the greatest film-going experience I have ever had. I've seen it twice and it was just as good the second time around, at least in the Imax Experience 3D version. James Cameron shows his film making skills, and his expertise with Science Fiction as he masterfully pulls you into anther world. It may be the most expensive film ever made, but all the money is up on the screen. A truly monumental achievement. 5-Stars.

As my first IMAX 3D movie i have to say this was amazing. I have never felt like i was actually in a movie i was observing. The graphics literally pop out like they are within your grasp. This story has it all; love, action, adventure, and graphics. All of which are unmtched by anything i have seen. I am not generally a si-fi fan, but this has to be one of the best movies i have ever seen.

Make no mistake: Avatar IS amazing. It's hard to describe just how fully realized the fantastic world of Pandora is. While the story is simplistic and contrived at times, it almost doesn't matter, as you will get swept away by the wonder of the visuals regardless. Also, there's something so compelling about the main premise of stepping into some else's body and living a completely separate life through a biological "avatar," that you're just not going to be able to look away from this one.

This movie experience will blow you away right from the very beginning. This is the second time I have seen it, the first which was not in 3d IMAX. The animation was enough to blow my mind in the first viewing, but the 3D aspect really adds to a great creation. This film has just changed the whole movie viewing industry, much like the first star wars movie. This is a must see.

Yes, there is a lot of buzz about this movie seeing as how it's killing it at the box office and is on track to compete with Titanic for the top spot in sales. But other than the hype and it being another James Cameron ("I'm on top of the world") movie, I believe it truly speaks to the people. Though a piece of total fiction, the movie reaches deep into the viewer's core and tests the greedy and selfish inside all of us. Would you really try to make an alien race submit to your will for their resources? Of course not! Yet, we support corporations that do just that with our own people each day... Think about it.

The only good thing about this movie is the FXs / 3D. Other than that, the story is completely unoriginal theatrical propaganda. The plot is a typical anti-capitalist retread (i.e., money hungry corporation stops at nothing to make a bigger profit including destroying the environment and the otherwise peaceful natives). The characters are stereotypical as well (e.g., the heartless trigger happy military commander who can't wait to wage war). At one point this movie actually declares shock and awe bad and martyrdom good (a reference to the Iraq war that should have every Iraq Vet boycotting this film). For a cheaper thrill I recommend watching Dances with Wolves surrounded by a blacklight and some neon posters. That's all this movie is.

Avatar was definitely worth the time it took to watch! No matter how valuable your time may be. I am not a sci-fi film lover, but this goes beyond all expectations. Pandora is full of absolutely beautiful “eye-candy” and the IMAX sound definitely enhances the experience. I would recommend this movie to everyone, in fact, I have to everyone I know.

This movie is eye candy, that's it. If you're going to see this movie see it in 3D because that's the only reason I didn't walk out. The visuals and action are amazing.
The story is terrible. It portrays the military, big business, and humans in general as nature destroying, blood thirsty, money loving monsters. It paints soldiers especially as idiots. If you're a tree hugger you will probably love it. The story arc is as predictable as can be on top of it all.
The humor is just as bad, I never laughed once at the corny puns and goofy one liners. Even humor in kids movies can get me to laugh, but this was just bad.
I recommend it only for the ride, put on your 3D glasses and enjoy the view, don't expect anything more.
