Worth the price of admission

As noted by other reviewers, the story is certainly not brilliant. However, the visuals and pounding Daft Punk score are terrific. I saw this first in 2D at my local bargain theater, and decided I wanted to see it in IMAX 3D. As always, IMAX provided an immersive experience and this movie really was great in that format.

Avatar is an amazing experience in IMAX 3-D. Well worth the premium ticket price! I found the story interesting enough so I am not sure what people are complaining about. You can't go in expecting Oscar winning dialogue for a movie of this genre. Me, my 16 year old and 13 year old were engaged the entire time. It certainly did not seem like a three-hour movie. Visually stunning, probably the best cgi characterization in any movie to date. You feel the characters are real and not computer generated. You truly get lost in Pandora. The environment oozes attention to detail. We are seeing it again this weekend and probably would shell out the money to see it a third time if our IMAX was not over an hour’s drive away.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
