I wanted to see the new Star Trek movie on Imax and I thought it had finished running. Then I found out it had an 11:50PM showing. We (me and my wife) watched it and liked it very much.
I didn't know what I was expecting but it was very good and completely different.
It went wideways to what I was expecting and it also provides a path for new Start Trek movies.
My wife really liked it.

I've watched this series evolve over 40 years and I can tell you that this latest edition to the Star Trek legacy is refreshing. The casting director deserves much of the credit. The new actors pay tribute to the original cast while adding their own personal style. The love story was a nice suprise. All in all, good fun. I can't wait for the next one.

The new release of Star Trek is an impressive feat to boldly go where so many have gone down in flames before - I speak of course of prequels. (Read: Star Wars.) I liked it, to be brief however I don't want to get too caught up in comparing it to the original series and instead view it as another iteration of a classic saga. You have my reccomendation to see the new Star Trek, as much as an internet opinion is ever worth. I truly do believe it is worth it just to have seen it.

Star Trek was an excellent movie, but seeing it in IMAX was not necessarily worth it. I say this, because I saw it in the regular theater first, and loved the story, the nostalgia, the actors, the action, and the overall quality. So, I was determined to see it again on IMAX. However, even though the movie was great a second time around, the IMAX experience wasn't that much better to say that spending the extra $ for admission was worth it.

My 27 year old son, his fiance, and I went to see ST in IMAX in Torrance, CA. We loved the movie; kept us engaged throughout and they were saying they loved it all through the movie. Lots of little jokes, great characterizations that stayed true to the series, and a story line that worked. Great special effects. The IMAX screen at Torrance didn't have the same effect as IMAX theaters I've visited in the past, but the movie played well. I was concerned with two bits of story line that I won't divulge here so as not to spoil anyone's fun, but that was explained with an alternate reality. Fun for everyone, especially Trekkies.

An incredible adaption of the vision of, “what was” for the crew of the Enterprise. The interaction of Kirk and Spock that we all knew, but did not know.
In IMAX, this fluent and action packed adventure was a thrill ride. The visuals were unmatched. The graphics were state-of-the-art and the soundtrack was “blow me away” in its nature. This time out, Star Trek has proven its worth and to a generation both current and past.
Once this film starts, it doesn't stop. Had the technology that was used existed when "The Wrath of Khan" was made, I would have wet my shorts. The near 3-D effect was something to behold. This is most likely the last movie I will ever see on the big screen. After this one, nothing can top it; I'm sure of it.

...only gripe: Hollywood, lose the "shaky action cam" effect. It's SO ridiculously overused in this movie, to the point of having a noticeably negative effect on the experience. Aside from that, the film was great: story was fun and fresh, while remaining faithful to the character's roots and personalities. Whether you're an old school Trekkie (like me!) or a new-to-Star-Trek fan of action films in general, you won't be disappointed!

WOW, I didn't realize that I was going to watch the remake of Star Wars episode IV. Starts out with a imperial type ship capturing a smaller ship. Then a farm boy needing to discover and be like his father so he decides to join the rebellion, sorry federation. He meets Princess Leia, or I mean Uhura, then the C3PO intelligence and comical relief of Scotty and Chekov. The Han solo buddy of McCoy. They even had two Obi-Won's with Spock. SPOILERS A large sphere can destroy a planet. Alderaan or thy call it Vulcan gets blown up. A small single ship destroys the Empire. A award ceremony at the end with everyone cheering and clapping.

This movie got me by surprise, since the beginning it kept me on the edge, it has a great musical score, awesome effects, photography, direction, the story line is my favorite as it open the door for new movies and even a series based on this alternate universe. I've already used up every adjective for "AMAZING" while describing this movie verbally. I'm a fan of the original series, spin-off series and the movies. J.J. Abrams did an excellent job of subtly providing details to tie in aspects of the early shows; which made me as a fan very happy. However, someone who has never seen a single episode of the tv shows or the movies would be able to follow along and, I believe, truly enjoy the show. The graphics and animation are brilliant. They couldn't have casted it any better. And it definitely leaves you hanging on for more!

I have always been a Star Trek fan, but this film goes above and beyond any expectation I could have had. This is definitely the revitalization of a franchise. I've seen it four times in the IMAX, and three of those times I had to bring people that didn't want to see it. They definitely changed their mind after walking out of the theater. The movie has something for everyone, no matter what your taste in movies. J.J. Abrams is a miracle worker. I want to put an IMAX in my house just to watch this movie.

Only two words can sum up this movie. TOTALLY AWESOME! Yes, I said it. The movie was an amazing experience, especially on IMAX. It was funny, it was sad, it was exciting, it was surprising, it was fresh and old at the same time. It was the best Star Trek movie to date, as far as I'm concerned. My one beef is that Wm Shatner is not in it. I think it missed that one element, but it was still a great movie.

Before I saw the movie I had a whole list of things that I just KNEW I would hate about it & not one of them was still on the list when the credits rolled. The casting was perfect. Zach Quinto was (as always!) just amazing. I know there was some major grumbling on the Enterprise design, but honestly, it was gorgeous, even more so in IMAX! I got chills when I saw the NCC-1701 scroll across the screen! The rest of the FX and set designs were top-notch as well.

Loved the movie and the IMAX experience was terrific with just one flaw...the sound level was way too high! So high, that it caused the dialog to be distorted and hard to hear! The screen size was fabulous, but I think IMAX was trying to make the sound match the screen size. It doesn't work. After 2 hours of the excruciating loudness, I got a headache. Reduce the sound level PLEASE!!!

Movie was a video game for kids. Graphics were good but over done. Story line was weak. Not enough dialog to draw you into the story. I was waiting for the movie to end. Players were weak. Sound was too loud.

Been a Star Trek fan for decades. I'm in my thirties. So I was in tuned to all of the subtleties sprinkled throughout the move. I have heard nothing but good things about the movie so I went ahead and saw it in IMAX. I am recommending that EVERYONE see this movie in IMAX. It is SO worth it. The sound and screen were larger than life. Simply amazing. I was smiling in disbelief for most of the movie. Not to sound cliche, however "I'd see it again and again."
